The Dallas Cowboys (4-1) are on the road to New England after three straight blowout victories at home. Meanwhile, the Patriots (2-3), return home following a close road win in Houston over the Texans. This will mark the 14th time these two teams have met and the first since the Patriots defeated the Cowboys, 13-9, in 2019 when Tom Brady was still king.

Below, we’ll take a look at the early odds and best sportsbook to bet with.

Dallas Cowboys vs. New England Patriots

Sunday, October 17, 2021 - 04:25 PM EDT at Gillette Stadium

The Cowboys entered last week as a 7-point favorite and continue to be the favored team for this matchup. As for the Patriots, they were an 8-point favorite in Week 5 and are the underdog this time. At the top betting sites, Dallas is a 3.5-point favorite over New England with the over/under at 51.5.

The Matchup

Dallas was able to pick up their fourth straight win with a dazzling 44-20 victory over the New York Giants in Week 5. Quarterback Dak Prescott connected on 22 of his 32 passes for 302 yards and 3 touchdowns to 1 interception. His partner in crime, Ezekiel Elliott, eclipsed 100 rushing yards for the second-straight week and he finished with 110 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Wideout CeeDee Lamb came back to life and recorded 84 yards and a score on 4 receptions from 6 targets.

Meanwhile, the Patriots snapped a two-game losing skid with a 25-22 road win over the Houston Texans. Even without four of its starting offensive linemen, New England managed to protect QB Mac Jones. Jones finished the day with 23-for-30 passing for 231 yards with 1 touchdown to 1 interception. Tight end Hunter Henry led the team in the air with 75 receiving yards and one score, while running back Damien Harris paced the ground game with 58 yards and a score on 14 carries.

Atlanta Falcons fans have to be upset since Cowboys’ defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has done a phenomenal job of turning this Dallas defense around. It starts with Trevon Diggs, who has been one of the league's best players with six interceptions so far this season and at least one in every game. Their pass defense still needs work as they rank 31st in the league, so Mac Jones and Co. will need to take advantage of that weakness.

Their defense is good but their offense is even better which is why it’s been hard for several opponents to keep up. It’s safe to say that the Patriots’ defense, which ranks 5th in both yards and points allowed will have their work cut out for them in this one.

Prediction

The Patriots escaped with a win against Houston but it was ugly. Not to mention the fact that their defense was completely embarrassed by Davis Mills. Good luck keep up with Prescott and his weapons.

NFL Pick: Dallas Cowboys -3.5 (-108)
