Dak Prescott has a great track record against NFC East competition in home games, which is why my Commanders vs. Cowboys prediction expects the home favorites to cover in a matchup of 0-1 teams playing their second consecutive divisional games.
Kickoff from AT&T Stadium in Dallas is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday, airing on FOX. Dallas is a 3.5-point betting favorite.

🤠 Cowboys -3.5 (-120 via FanDuel)
Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is still lauded for his historic 2024 rookie season where he led the team to the NFC Championship Game. But he is also the same quarterback that has lost each of his last five starts, and faces a Cowboys team that has won four of the last five home games against Washington since 2021 with a plus-110 point differential.
Dak Prescott has won 19 straight home games against divisional opponents. That is the second-longest streak by a starting quarterback since the 1970 merger (Tom Brady won 20 straight versus the AFC East from 2007-14). If Dallas can clean up some of the penalties after leading the NFL with 7.8 penalties per game last year (it had seven penalties for 60 yards in the first half last week), it would go a long way toward another convincing victory.
📡 SBR Edge: Daniels' losing streak
Daniels' five-game losing streak is the second-longest active streak in the NFL, with only Deshaun Watson's six-game losing streak being longer.
Daniels’ lack of improvement
Over the last two seasons among 40 quarterbacks with a minimum of 200 dropbacks, Daniels’ ranks are the following: 39th in pressure percentage (40%), tied for 36th in completion percentage (59.5%), 37th in precision pass percentage (48%), and 35th in quarterback contact rate (27%).
On top of all of that, early returns don’t suggest improvement for Daniels in a new offensive system. First-time play-caller David Blough had Daniels under center at a career-high rate (26.9% of snaps), while Washington ranked in the bottom seven in play-action rate and pre-snap motion in Week 1.
Score prediction: Cowboys 31, Commanders 24
