It’s a clash of titans as the Huskies head to Columbia to take on the Gamecocks and we make our best UConn vs. South Carolina prediction based on the best women's college basketball odds from our best sports betting sites.

Two of the best to ever do it collide Sunday afternoon as Geno Auriemma takes No. 11 UConn (20-4) to Colonial Life Arena in hopes of upsetting Dawn Staley and No. 1 South Carolina (22-0).

With the Gamecocks undefeated and remaining the Women’s March Madness odds favorite, UConn is going to have to bounce back in a big way after dropping its last Top-25 matchup to No. 15 Notre Dame in late January.

It won’t be an easy task for the Huskies to push South Carolina, who is a 9.5 to 11.5-point favorite at our best sports betting apps, with the Gamecocks having a deep lineup full of trustworthy scorers. It’ll be on Paige Bueckers to lead UConn to an upset behind her scoring prowess in what should be a high-flying game between two of the best offenses in the country

To accompany our Iowa vs. Nebraska prediction, here is our best UConn vs. South Carolina prediction and our college basketball picks (odds via our best March Madness betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

UConn vs. South Carolina prediction

Over 141.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -110 via DraftKings

Nobody has been able to slow down the South Carolina offense this season. Dawn Staley’s program is third in the country in points per game, 88.8, and has four different reliable scorers averaging double-digit points this season.

Led by center Kamilla Cardoso and her 13.8 points per game, the Gamecocks are shooting 51.4% from the floor this season. Cardoso has been a monster in the paint with her size at 6-foot-7 creating catastrophic mismatches and allowing her to shoot 59.5% this season.

What’s helped South Carolina bludgeon teams and average 86.6 points per game against Top-25 teams this season is the shooting around Cardoso. The Gamecocks lead the country in 3-point percentage (40.9%) and MiLaysia Fulwiley, Te-Hina Paopao, and Bree Hall are combining to hit 5.2 threes per game with Paopao and Hall both shooting above 45% from deep.

Beyond its big four scorers, who combine for 47.4 points per game, it’s South Carolina’s depth that can cause so many issues. Staley has three more players averaging at least nine points per game, to help keep her stars fresh.

Unlike South Carolina, UConn asks its best players to do the vast majority of the heavy lifting and it’s helped the Huskies average 82.5 points per game, ninth most in the country - UConn is averaging 79.1 points against Top-25 teams. Behind Paige Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards, UConn is third in the country in shooting percentage (51.3%) and 14th in 3-point percentage (37.3%).

Bueckers has completely returned to form this season after battling injury issues as a sophomore and junior, and she’s been among the best players in the country. Her 20 points per game leads the team and she’s shooting 44.9% from deep on 4.5 threes per game. Bueckers is the best guard South Carolina has faced this season and she has another star in Edwards to lean on. Edwards is putting up 17.7 points per game and has been one of the most dominant paint players in the country this season, shooting 60.8% from inside the arc.

Between South Carolina’s efficiency and depth and UConn’s star power, the Over is too appealing to pass up.

As of this writing, three of our best sportsbooks are offering a line on the UConn vs. South Carolina matchup. All three are offering the total at 141.5 with DraftKings and BetMGM giving us slightly better odds than FanDuel.

While 141.5 isn’t a low total by any means, there’s value in it with the context of how explosive both these offenses have been this season.

UConn vs. South Carolina odds analysis

Our best live betting sites that are offering a line on this game differ slightly on the spread, with two having South Carolina by double digits. BetMGM has the Gamecocks -11.5 (-110) and FanDuel has South Carolina -10.5 (-114), but DraftKings has quickly seen the spread drop. After opening with Dawn Staley’s program favored by 11.5, it has come down to 9.5 at DraftKings (-110). South Carolina is 10-9 ATS this season while UConn is 13-8.

The game total opened at 141.5 and hasn’t shifted yet, but expect it to jump up a few more points before tip. With both of these offenses averaging over 80 points and bringing star power to the court, the Over will be enticing to the public.
