After a blowout loss, can the Phoenix Suns cover against one of the Association’s best teams in the Boston Celtics? Our Suns vs. Celtics NBA picks are based on the best NBA odds.

The Boston Celtics blew out the Brooklyn Nets, 139-96, on Wednesday for a second straight home victory, and the team is back home tonight looking for a third. Boston will once again be without Marcus Smart, who remains out indefinitely.

The Phoenix Suns were blown out, 132-100, by the Atlanta Hawks in their last game out, and the team heads to TD Garden in search of a bounce-back effort. Devin Booker is still on the sideline, and role players Landry Shamet and Cameron Payne are out as well.

Here is our best Suns vs. Celtics NBA pick (odds via BetMGM; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Suns vs. Celtics odds analysis

Bettors are all-in on a Celtics runaway win, as 61% of wagers have come in on Boston to cover a double-digit spread. Boston is 14-12 ATS as the home favorite this season, but just 25-24 as the favorite and 10-10 against Western Conference opponents. The Suns are 12-13 on the road and just 8-11 against Eastern Conference opponents, but the team has covered in six of its last eight contests. Boston beat a fully-healthy Phoenix team at Footprint Center, 125-98, on Dec. 7.

The point total opened at 226.5, but it’s come down significantly to as low as 221.5. Bettors have laid 60% of wagers on the Over, and if the total continues to drop, we’ll likely see more action on that outcome. The Suns are 9-4 as the road dog, but just 7-12 against Eastern Conference opponents. Boston is 17-8-1 as the home favorite and 10-10 against Western Conference opponents. The teams combined for 223 points in their only other meeting this season, hitting the Under in that one.

Suns vs. Celtics pick

Suns +9.5 vs. Celtics (-105 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐

Boston is fresh off a 43-point win, and Phoenix is still smarting over a 32-point loss. This one is set up for another Celtics blowout, right? Not necessarily.

After enduring a torturous 14-game stretch in which the team went 2-12, Phoenix has won and covered in six of its last eight contests. Though Devin Booker remains out, Chris Paul’s strong play and leadership has helped the Suns at least partially right the ship.

The Celtics are 11-5 ATS in 2023, and the team sports the best record in the NBA at 37-15. While the C’s continue to rack up W’s, they haven’t been blowing teams out each and every night. Over those 16 games, Boston has beaten opponents by at least 10 points on only six occasions.

The Suns got next to nothing out of Chris Paul against Atlanta, and we’ll chalk that one up to an off night. We’re not counting on CP3 turning in another dud, so the smart play is on Phoenix to cover.

The large spread on this one has me gravitating toward Phoenix, but based on recent performances, I’m inclined to bet the Suns all the way down to +8.5, which means I won’t be concerned about taking this one at 9.5 rather than 10 or 10.5 In fact, I’d prefer the 9.5-point spread to avoid a push. The most favorable odds come in at -105 from BetMGM, which is where we’ll make our wager.
