The Oklahoma City Thunder have been blowing the doors off the competition after coming into the season with high expectations.

Chet Holmgren has been continuing to improve, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is an early contender in the NBA MVP odds, so we’re taking a look at those stars in some Spurs vs. Thunder NBA player prop bets, with the game beginning at 9:30 p.m. ET from Paycom Center, Oklahoma City (ESPN).

The San Antonio Spurs are rebuilding around Victor Wembanyama, with veteran Chris Paul providing some stability at the point guard position. Devin Vassell and Tre Jones will remain out for this Western Conference matchup.

The Thunder enter the matchup as a leading contender in the NBA Championship odds.

Holmgren brought extra energy in his matchups with Wembanyama last year when the centers were battling in the NBA Rookie of the Year odds. That rivalry should extend into their second seasons, and Holmgren has been showing tremendous growth as a rebounder so far this year.

Holmgren is averaging 13 rebounds per game while grabbing 27.6% of available defensive rebounds when he’s on the floor. The Spurs rank 21st in offensive efficiency during the young season, so there should be plenty of rebounding opportunities for the Thunder.

The second-year star is also essentially the only healthy center available on his team too with Isaiah Hartenstein and Jaylin Williams ruled out.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander prop bet: Under 2.5 turnovers ⭐⭐⭐⭐

For a greater potential return, bettors could take SGA to go Under 1.5 turnovers at +150 odds via DraftKings. He turned the ball over twice in the Thunder’s opener at Denver, but SGA has only logged one turnover in each of his last two outings despite handling a 32.6% usage rate during that span.

He seemed to figure out how to attack the Spurs with Wembanyama on the floor last year and only committed one turnover in each of his last two outings against San Antonio.

The Spurs' defense is dead-last in turnover rate (6.8%) this season, and SGA is incredibly efficient with the ball. There’s also a chance he takes a seat in the fourth quarter if OKC wins in a blowout.

Victor Wembanyama prop bet: Under 3.5 assists ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +124 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 44.64%

As talented as he is in just his second season, Wembanyama is still trying to figure out the NBA game.

He’s averaging 3.7 turnovers and 2.3 assists per outing through three starts this season and is facing a Thunder defense that's been flying around the court, with Alex Caruso adding another element on that end of the floor.

OKC is holding opponents to the lowest field-goal percentage (36.7%) and the fourth-lowest assist-to-turnover ratio (1.226) while allowing just 95.3 points per game. Holmgren is one of the few defenders who can match up with Wemby, so the Thunder might not need to send double teams, and that would limit his assist potential.

The Spurs' spacing has suffered with Vassell out, and several below-average shooters surround Wemby when Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan are both on the floor.
