After the first month of the 2025 WNBA season, our best sports betting sites are already offering odds on a perfect season for the New York Liberty.

That's how good the defending champions have been en route to a 9-0 record - just the ninth such start in league history - that has them atop the WNBA championship odds to repeat this season. The Liberty have outscored teams by 19 points on average, which includes a 48-point win earlier this month that ranked as the second-biggest of all time.

The Liberty face their toughest test yet today at 3 p.m. ET against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. And after that? Well, you can bet on what happens next.

🔢 Liberty odds to go undefeated

No team in WNBA history has ever gone undefeated in the regular season. The best record of all time belongs to the 1998 Houston Comets (27-3), who still lost three times in a 30-game season; the WNBA expanded to 44 games this season.

That hasn't stopped two of the best sports betting apps from posting odds on the Liberty making history with a 44-0 season, as shown below:

New York has a roughly 1% chance of going undefeated this season, according to the latest odds from FanDuel and bet365. Both sportsbooks only offer "yes" as a betting option, though, so the true probability would likely be lower if offered as a two-way market.

By comparison, only seven of the league's 13 teams have shorter than 150/1 odds to win the WNBA title this season. That means the best sportsbooks think there's a better chance of the Liberty winning the next 35 straight games than a team like the Los Angeles Sparks or Dallas Wings winning it all.

🤔 Will the Liberty finish 44-0 in 2025?

If you only look at this mathematically, the Liberty's odds to pull off a perfect season might actually be underestimated by the betting market.

New York has been favored by roughly 12 points on average, which translates to a roughly 90% chance to win a game outright. So let's assume the Liberty have a 9-in-10 chance to win each of their next 35 games, and we can multiply that together to determine the likelihood of 35 separate victories.

Sure enough, the math suggests they'd pull off a perfect season approximately 2.82% of the time - equivalent to roughly 35/1 odds. Maybe those long-shot odds weren't so bad, after all.

Now, that doesn't take into account the cumulative toll of travel and injury across the season, nor does it account for strength of schedule. Case in point: the Liberty are favored by only 4.5 points today against the Fever, who gave New York its toughest test in a 90-88 thriller on May 24 in Indianapolis.

So, will the Liberty go undefeated this year? Almost certainly not. But if you're taking a shot at something that's never been done, the early data from this season would support a (small) play at these 110/1 odds via FanDuel.

OK, so you're a rational bettor and have sworn off the possibility of a perfect start for the Liberty. You're probably right - and there's money to be made for predicting it ahead of time.

According to FanDuel, the Liberty's next-toughest challenge after today's test at Indiana will come June 22 when they travel to face the Seattle Storm (+370). That matchup slots just ahead of Tuesday's game against the Dream (+420) and Thursday's game against the Mercury (+750), both at home.
