As the White Sox have struggled, the Guardians have gotten hot lately, moving to within a game and a half of first-place Chicago in the AL Central race.

Despite dropping the first game on Monday, I’m taking Cleveland to win this one 6-1, courtesy of a stellar pitching performance from Foster Griffin (15-5, 3.66 ERA). Cleveland is also poised to take advantage of Chicago’s bullpen troubles on the way to securing a comfortable home win.

Cleveland’s ability to grind down starting pitchers early could pave the way for a blowout win over the White Sox. 

White Sox starter Davis Martin has been decent this season, but his stats on the road suggest Cleveland’s bats are going to come alive at Progressive Field. With Cleveland owning one of the best contact rates in Major League Baseball, Davis could be in trouble, as he prefers to pitch to contact. 

If Davis, who has an unsightly road ERA of 4.90, gets chased from the game, the Guardians will like their chances of tacking on more runs against Chicago’s struggling bullpen.

Steven Kwan Over 0.5 hits (-267)

Steven Kwan shouldn’t have any issues reaching base Tuesday against a pitcher he’s owned his whole career. 

We’re backing the Guardians outfielder to get a hit and pad his eye-popping average against Davis Martin. Kwan is hitting .500 (6-12), with a .571 on-base percentage, against the White Sox hurler.

However, Kwan will hope to be more productive after failing to hit a home run or drive in a run in 12 at-bats.

Jose Ramirez to hit a home run (+470)

This is the perfect time for Jose Ramirez to break out of his funk and deliver a confidence-boosting home run for the playoff-chasing Guardians.

Power has been an issue for Ramirez since he returned from a hand injury in July. He was left out of Cleveland’s lineup Sunday against the Twins amid a woeful run in which he’s hit just one home run in 180 plate appearances. His barrel rate (4.1%) is low, and his average exit velocity (88%) is slightly below average.

But Ramirez’s power outage might be set to end against Davis Martin. Ramirez is a worthwhile pick to go yard at home against a pitcher who throws to contact.
