⚾ White Sox vs. Angels Prediction & Picks: MLB Odds for Tuesday, May 5
Last Updated: May 5, 2026 8:33 AM EDT • 5 minute read X Social Google News Link
The Los Angeles Angels have not won any of their last six series, and look to avoid another series loss after dropping last night's opener to the Chicago White Sox. Erick Fedde is in search of his first win for Chicago while Los Angeles counters with Sam Aldegheri. First pitch from Angel Stadium in Anaheim set for 9:38 p.m. ET (ESPN Unlimited), and the Angels are -115 betting favorites.
I’m calling for the road underdogs to continue their promising start with my best White Sox vs. Angels prediction. I also expect regression from a strikeout perspective for Fedde while facing Los Angeles for a second straight start, and am backing a red-hot Angels slugger to go deep as part of my MLB picks.

| Erick Fedde Under 4.5 strikeouts (-175 via DraftKings) | 1u → 0.57u | Seeing the same lineup twice in one week lowers Fedde's ceiling for K's |

🏆 Who will win White Sox vs. Angels?
The White Sox outscored the Angels 16-11 in a three-game home sweep last week. And since Los Angeles couldn't even build some momentum behind ace Jose Soriano yesterday, Chicago should extend its season series lead tonight.
Score prediction: White Sox 6, Angels 4
💰 White Sox vs. Angels prediction & best bet
White Sox ML (-102)
When the White Sox turned in a five-game winning streak last week while winning consecutive series against California teams, they did so on the strength of an offense that belted seven home runs with a collective .767 team OPS.
Offense has been anything but L.A.’s forte of late, scoring two or fewer runs eight times during a 2-12 stretch entering the week. Mike Trout slashed .248/.431/.569 with 10 home runs and led the American League in runs scored in April, but unfortunately not enough of his teammates are helping out offensively.
📡 SBR Edge: A historically bad year?
The Angels have never lost 100 games in a season in franchise history, but their winning percentage is currently on pace to be their worst ever.
🔥 Best White Sox vs. Angels player prop bet
Erick Fedde Under 4.5 strikeouts (-175)
Erick Fedde struck out a season-high six batters in the team’s 3-2 10-inning win last Wednesday over the Angels. Fedde hadn’t topped four strikeouts in any of his other five starts, but it tracks that his best game would come against a Los Angeles lineup that has struck out at the highest rate in the league (25.6%).
I am selling high on Fedde after that six-strikeout performance last week, considering he ranks in the 18th percentile in strikeout rate, and the 17th percentile or worse in chase and whiff rate. He also only generated whiffs on just eight of 46 swings (17%), so it seems unsustainable for the righty to rack up another high strikeout total with a big emphasis on called strikes.
💣 White Sox vs. Angels home run prediction
Jorge Soler to hit a home run (+450)
Entering this month, Jorge Soler was tied for the fourth-most home runs from a designated hitter this season. He extended his on-base streak in Sunday’s series finale against the Mets to 23 games with a first-inning RBI single.
Soler now ranks in the 74% percentile in launch angle sweet spot percentage, the 75th percentile in barrels, and a respectable 60th percentile in xSLG. Meanwhile, Fedde’s 1.4 HR/9 rate is on pace to be his worst since 2022, while his 30.6% fly ball rate so far is worse than his previous career-high of 27.4%.
Los Angeles took advantage of Fedde’s fly ball rate with two home runs last week, and this is great value for Soler to join the party tonight.
🚀 White Sox vs. Angels same-game parlay
Backing Jorge Soler to hit a home run would negatively impact Chicago's chances of winning outright from a same-game parlay perspective. Therefore, I'm swapping the third leg of this SGP from his home run prop to simply record a hit, as I expect him to start a new on-base streak after having his 23-game streak snapped yesterday.
💵 White Sox vs. Angels SGP picks
- White Sox ML (-105)
- Erick Fedde Under 4.5 strikeouts (-175)
- Jorge Soler to record 1+ hits (-170)
Best odds: +387 via bet365 (0.1u -> 0.39u)

💡 How I'm betting White Sox vs. Angels: MLB strategy
Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.
I'm not overreacting to Chicago winning yesterday's series opener, as it did so with Angels ace Jose Soriano on the mound, who is just the 10th starting pitcher since 2000 to begin the season with an ERA lower than 1.00 through seven starts. Thus, there is value on the White Sox as road underdogs, and I'm following my same formula as usual with one-unit plays on my game prediction and top player prop pick, and a 0.25-unit home run wager.
📊 Live White Sox vs. Angels odds
Nearly every top sports betting site has the Angels currently as -115 betting favorites. But their 1-9 record over the last 10 should result in the line shading towards the White Sox, who have already clinched the season series against Los Angeles. For context, Chicago only won two season series over AL opponents last year (Twins and Rays).
The O/U is at 9 runs, juiced as high as -115 (53.49% implied odds) to the Over. But the early betting splits are 2/1 in favor of the Under, suggesting this line has more of a chance to dip to 8.5 that it does of ticking up to 9.5 or higher.
