The Twins and Dodgers conclude a three-game series Wednesday with a juicy pitching matchup between Minnesota's Sonny Gray and L.A.'s Dustin May.

The starters own a combined 8-1 record this season and will face off against lineups that lead the majors in strikeouts.

We can include day games in our Wednesday MLB best bets, and we're targeting Gray's strikeout prop. The Over/Under is set at an enticing 5.5, and DraftKings is offering the best odds at -110.

Gray has been lights-out to begin the season. He owns a 4-0 record, 1.39 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and ranks in the top 20 in the league in strikeouts (56).

He's striking out a career-high 11.12 batters per nine innings. That mark ranks sixth among qualified pitchers. His strikeout rate is also at a career-high 30.8% and ranks fifth in the majors, just behind Atlanta's Spencer Strider, Toronto's Kevin Gausman, Angels star Shohei Ohtani, and Arizona's Zac Gallen.

Add to the equation that the Dodgers rank fifth in the majors in strikeouts (390) and that Gray has had a great deal of success against the current L.A. lineup. Gray owns seven career strikeouts of outfielders Mookie Betts and Jason Heyward, six Ks against slugger Max Muncy, and five whiffs of All-Star Freddie Freeman.

Gray has topped 5.5 strikeouts in each of his last five outings and is coming off a nine-strikeout performance against the Chicago Cubs last Friday.

Ballpark Pal has this prop set at -146 and NumberFire has Gray projected to reach 6.11 strikeouts on Wednesday.

Despite the supporting evidence, we're keeping this as a three-star play because there's always the possibility of the Dodgers' vaunted lineup chasing a pitcher early.
