The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets will play the second game of a doubleheader on Tuesday night after a rainout on Monday, and we're diving in with our Dodgers vs. Mets player props based on the best MLB odds.

Recently, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been most of us during a clumsy moment. They've tripped on a curb, stumbled a few steps, and are now looking around to see if anyone noticed.

Collectively, the Dodgers are still an imposing battle station of bat-swinging behemoths capable of consistently clobbering baseballs. That's one main factor in their journey to a 33-22 record, the sixth-best in MLB. But they've just lost five straight games, including a series sweep at the hands of the Cincinnati Reds, who are 24-30 (23rd).

So the Dodgers and their daunting offense featuring multiple sluggers leading the MLB MVP odds won't be looking past the New York Mets on Tuesday, even if their opponent's run differential is on another continent compared to Los Angeles (minus-24, with the Dodgers at plus-69).

To complement our MLB player props for Tuesday, here are our best Dodgers vs. Mets player props and MLB picks (odds via our best MLB betting sites; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Dodgers vs. Mets expert picks

Jose Quintana Under 3.5 strikeouts ⭐⭐⭐

The Dodgers were shut out in one of the games during their recent losing stretch, and they scored just one run in two others. So yes, a usually petrifying offense is ailing, at least short term.

But Jose Quintana has been the cure for many ills. He'll face a Dodgers lineup filled with power, including Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez, who sit seventh and 11th, respectively, leaguewide in home runs (Ohtani has hit 13, while Hernandez has smacked 12). Mookie Betts isn't far behind with eight, and they'll all get to tee off against a hurler who has given up seven long balls in 2024, and three recently against the Atlanta Braves.

That's contributed significantly to an inflated 5.13 ERA from Quintana, and his performance has worsened lately. Opponents have recorded a .312 batting average over Quintana's four starts in May and an .856 OPS.

Add it all up, and Quintana is poorly positioned to last long enough in this game to clear even a low strikeout-total bar. That's often been the case with him in 2024, which is reflected in his 6.2 K/9. He hasn't been the type to rack up punchouts in a while, but his production in 2024 is still dramatically lower than Quintana's 7.1 K/9 in 2023.

A successful $10 bet here would result in a $23 payout, with an implied probability of 43.48%.

Dodgers team total Over 4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Much of the same thinking applies here, and the Dodgers could get most of the way to cashing this total off Quintana alone. He's given up three-plus earned runs in four of his last six outings, including getting napalmed earlier in May for eight runs across just 2 2/3 innings against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Quintana has also benefited from some luck, as his actual batting average against of .265 is far lower than the veteran's expected average against of .300, with the latter figure ranking among the bottom 5% of MLB, according to Baseball Savant. He's been sinking lately, but it could and should be much worse.

Taking on water while preparing to face the Dodgers is not the ideal state. If Quintana getting capsized contributes to an offensive eruption from Los Angeles, a $10 wager at these -105 odds from BetMGM will lead to a $19.50 payout, with an implied win probability of 51.28%.

Mookie Betts Over 1.5 total bases ⭐⭐⭐⭐

We stay aboard the Quintana fade train, and Mookie Betts is a fine one to ride with on Tuesday.

Betts is on the path to producing one of his best career seasons while sitting second in average (.335) and posting a .973 OPS over 54 games. He's registered a hit in seven of his last eight contests. That includes four extra-base hits, and a three-knock outing on Friday against the Cincinnati Reds.

The superstar has also been steamrolling lefties, which is most important for this prop with the vulnerable southpaw Quintana on the mound. Betts has posted a .352 batting average against lefties, which is notably higher than his .326 against righties, positioning him well for a multi-hit night.

If he does that or notches an extra-base hit, a $10 wager at these odds would lead to an $18.70 profit, with an implied probability of 53.49%.
