The Braves and Phillies play a pivotal game today with just four games separating them in the NL East. However, my Braves vs. Phillies prediction eschews any moneyline wagers and backs the Under in a game with two improving starting pitchers (Tyler Mahle and Aaron Nola).

Despite both righties' recent successes, I am backing the Over on two player props involving Bryce Harper and Austin Riley that pay plus-money odds to round out my MLB picks. First pitch from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia is set for 1:10 p.m. ET (NBC), and the game is a virtual pick'em, with each team having -110 moneyline odds.

🏆 Who will win Braves vs. Phillies?

Atlanta is 6-2 against Philadelphia this year, and it is hard to argue with its chances of improving that record in the series finale with how well Tyler Mahle has pitched of late.

Score prediction: Braves 4, Phillies 3

💰 Braves vs. Phillies prediction & best bet

Under 8 (-104)

Atlanta’s acquisition of Tyler Mahle has paid immediate dividends. In five starts since the trade, Mahle is 2-1 with a 1.48 ERA over 30 ⅓ innings, a 32:5 K:BB ratio, and a 0.96 WHIP. He has also held opponents to a .216 batting average and .581 OPS in that span, after allowing a .265 average and .770 OPS in 18 starts with the Giants.

Mahle’s success comes with a massive change in pitching philosophy. With Atlanta, he is throwing his splitter 38.5% of the time compared to a 25.1% pitch usage with the Giants.

📡 SBR Edge: Nola to match zeros

Aaron Nola has a great chance of matching zeros with Tyler Mahle, as he ended August with a 2.65 ERA, and has pitched to a 2.50 ERA since July 28 spanning seven starts.

🔥 Best Braves vs. Phillies player prop bet

Bryce Harper Over 0.5 walks (+108)

Bryce Harper had a career-long 35-game on-base streak snapped Friday, but I’m still expecting him to reach base via a walk.

Harper started the series ranked fourth in on-base percentage, sixth in wRC+, fifth in walk rate, and sixth in xwOBA (min. 350 PA). His 129 wRC+ in 2025 was the fifth-lowest of his 14-year career, but his 145 in 2026 is MLB’s sixth-highest.

In the 110 games before the start of August, Harper slashed .252/.356/.488 with a 14.3% walk rate and 126 wRC+. In the next 30 games, he slashed .363/.522/.588, and improved his walk rate and wRC+ to 25% and 206, respectively. Since August, he leads MLB in on-base percentage, walk rate, and wRC+ (min. 80 PA)

Since August, his chase percentage is down to 23.5%, and his improved plate discipline should have him drawing at least one walk again.

💣 Braves vs. Phillies home run prediction

Austin Riley to hit a home run (+501)

Austin Riley drove in a run in Friday’s series opener, and hit a solo home run yesterday, which were his 61st and 62nd career RBI versus the Phillies. That is his most RBI against any opponent, with his 55 RBI against the Nationals the next closest.

Riley is the only current Braves slugger with more than four career home runs off Aaron Nola. Six of Riley’s 23 hits (in 66 at-bats) against the righty have left the yard, making him a great candidate to homer in consecutive games after snapping a 19-game home run drought.

Aaron Nola has allowed 13 home runs over his last 10 starts, and still has an MLB-worst 1.95 HR/9 rate despite improving metrics in several other areas.

🚀 Braves vs. Phillies same-game parlay

Though I’m backing Riley to hit his 17th home run of the season in this game, I am leaving him out of this same-game parlay entirely because of any contradictions his player props might cause with the Under. But for those looking to add a third leg via a player prop, there are many places one can turn given that Nola has allowed a .292/.347/.572 slash line and 22 home runs in 360 combined at-bats to current Braves hitters.

💵 Braves vs. Phillies SGP picks

  • Under 8 (-117)
  • Bryce Harper Over 0.5 walks (+105)

Best odds: +308 via DraftKings (0.1u -> 0.31u)

💡 How I'm betting Braves vs. Phillies: MLB strategy

Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.

The Braves have won five of their last six games in Philadelphia, but opponents have also scored just one run in three of Nola’s last four starts. With those conflicting trends at play, I settled on the Under as my best bet with two improving pitchers whose season-long numbers don’t jump off the page.

From a player prop perspective, this is my first time all season diving into the “batter walks” category of MLB player props. But Harper entered the weekend averaging a walk per game over the last six games, so he is one of the best candidates among all MLB players to break the ice and vary my wagering habits with.

📊 Live Braves vs. Phillies odds

There hasn't been much line movement in the moneyline odds at the top sports betting sites for this matchup, and the game remains a virtual pick'em across the market (-110 odds, 52.38% implied probability on each side) despite 61% of the wagers backing the Phillies.

The total is also aligned at 8 runs across the market, though bet365 touched 8.5 at one point, and FanDuel opened at 8.5 before ticking down a half run. The Over is the slightly more popular side with 56% of the wagers backing the Over.
