American League MVP frontrunner Yordan Alvarez is amid a historic season with a Triple Crown in his sights, and the MLB home run leader is a focal point of my best home run predictions today.

Adding to my portfolio of MLB home run picks is one of the most promising young players in the sport, Wyatt Langford, who is amid a hot stretch at the plate. I also fade a struggling Athletics pitching staff with a Minnesota Twins slugger, and I expect Nolan Arenado to add to Zack Littell’s struggles of keeping the ball in the ballpark.

💣 Best home run predictions & odds today

Home run pick: Ryan Jeffers (+525)

Ryan Jeffers has been a hot name surfacing as one of the biggest bats potentially to be dealt at the trade deadline. He is certainly driving up his value, homering in two of the last five games, and three of the previous nine.

Jeffers faces Athletics southpaw Jacob Lopez, and he has an outstanding .315/.448/.519 slash line against left-handed pitchers this year.

This best home run prediction is also a complete fade of an Athletics pitching staff that has pitched to an MLB-worst 6.83 ERA since June 20 while the team has lost 21 of 26 games.

📡 SBR Edge: An impressive start to a career

Yordan Alvarez has a career 168 OPS+, which is the ninth-highest through an age-29 season among players to debut in the live ball era (since 1920).

Home run pick: Nolan Arenado (+470)

Nolan Arenado reached base four times in Wednesday’s series finale victory over the Athletics. In the process, he hit his 14th home run of the season for his 2,002nd career hit, leaving him one shy of tying Shawn Green for the 297th-most in MLB history.

Arenado's .760 OPS and 105 OPS+ are on pace to be his highest in three seasons. He is slashing .306/.432/.722 with four home runs over the last 15 days, and has raised his slugging percentage 39 points this month alone.

Arenado should tee off against Zack Littell, who has allowed 10 home runs over his last seven starts, including seven in his last five home appearances.

Home run pick: Yordan Alvarez (+250)

Over his last 17 games, Yordan Alvarez is batting .418 with nine home runs, 21 RBI, and a 1.354 OPS. Among sluggers with a minimum of 250 plate appearances, he leads the Majors in home runs, RBI, OBP, slugging percentage, and OPS+, and is second in batting average.

From 2022-25, Alvarez had a .868 slugging percentage to the pull side, and a .668 slugging percentage to the non-pull side. But this year, Alvarez’s 1.144 slugging percentage to the pull side ranks second in the Majors (min. 50 PA).

He is also slugging .687 against fastballs, .723 against breaking pitches, and .479 versus offspeed pitches, and is the only player since 2015 with a .320 average or better against all three pitch types.

Home run pick: Wyatt Langford (+450)

Wyatt Langford entered Wednesday’s series finale against the White Sox having belted nine home runs and driving in 20 runs since June 14. That was tied for the third-most homers and the eighth-most RBI among AL hitters over that span.

Over his first 26 games, Langford slashed .214/.257/.350 with two home runs, five RBI, and a 67 wRC+. But over the next 23, his slash line numbers improved to .365/.408/.698 with nine home runs, 22 RBI, and a 207 wRC+.

From June 12 to July 22 (min. 90 PA), Langford ranked first in batting average, second in slugging percentage, second in fWAR, and third in wRC+. His .800 slugging percentage against non-fastballs was also second-highest in that span (min. 35 PA).
