My best Wisconsin vs. UCLA prediction focuses on how losing Nico Iamaleava will affect No. 12 UCLA's 19th-ranked scoring offense. Wisconsin has won four consecutive games, and below, I explain why they should make it five straight this weekend.

Tonight's game at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., begins at 7:30 p.m. and will air on NBC and stream on Peacock. UCLA is favored by 2.5.

Wisconsin +2.5 (-102 via BetMGM)

With Iamaleava out, UCLA's fantastic offensive stats mean nothing. Ty Dieffenbach will take over as the starter after completing three of six passes for 43 yards and one touchdown in relief last week. What concerns me about Dieffenbach is his accuracy. Last season with Cal Poly, he completed just 56.8% of his passes for 1,305 yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

Wisconsin has intercepted only three passes this season, but its pass defense has been excellent. The Badgers rank ninth in passing yards allowed per game (152.6), 15th in opponent completion percentage (54.8%), and second in opponent yards per attempt (5.2).

UCLA has been one of the best running teams this season, ranking sixth in rushing yards per game and eighth in yards per carry. But Wisconsin is allowing just 114.6 rushing yards per game and 3.17 yards per carry. With Dieffenbach posing very little threat through the air, the Wisconsin defense can sell out to stop the run.

📡 SBR Edge: Wisconsin's defense a key factor

Wisconsin's defense is phenomenal at preventing big plays. The unit has allowed the fewest plays of 10+ yards and 20+ yards and has given up just two plays of 30+ yards.

Wisconsin's passing attack will lead the Badgers to victory

After scoring just 13 points against Notre Dame to start the season, Wisconsin has scored at least 24 points in its last four games. Behind Colton Joseph, Wisconsin ranks in the top 50 in passing yards per attempt.

UCLA ranks 88th in passing yards allowed per game, a ranking that would be much worse if UCLA didn't hold San Diego State's 131st-ranked passing attack to just 45 yards.

Score prediction: Wisconsin 20, UCLA 17
