There was plenty of drama, too, as the Jayhawks overcame a 16-point deficit in the second half to beat the North Carolina Tar Heels 72-69.
It’s worth noting Kansas didn’t cover the consensus 4-point spread, so McIngvale’s Monday moneyline bet proves he might just have some gambling savvy after all.
Remember, earlier in the tournament McIngvale bet $1 million at +260 odds that the National Champion would come out of the East Region.

So, with the Tar Heels advancing to the championship game to face Kansas, McIngvale was able to hedge his bet on the March Madness winner coming out of the East Region.
Of course, it’s all a hedge against furniture promotions he runs at his stores. Following the Jayhawks win, McIngvale predicts he’ll have to refund $13 to $15 million in furniture sales.

Monday’s big win follows a string of notable losses for the furniture salesman, though.
McIngvale lost a reported $9,534,000 betting on the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI, in addition to $2.7 million on Alabama in the 2022 College Football National Championship game, and $2 million on a futures bet that the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl LVI.
However, he did win a $1.1 million spread bet backing the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game in January, so it hasn’t been all bad.
