It is about to become easier for the NBA League Pass app users to access live betting opportunities. Live betting is a major component of many of our best sports betting sites.

On Tuesday, the NBA and Sportradar, the exclusive worldwide distributor of NBA data, announced they would enhance the in-game wagering platform through its emBET in-play technology.

According to Patrick Mostboeck, Sportradar Senior Vice President of Audiovisual, “emBET is an exciting innovation for NBA fans, making in-play betting more engaging and immersive. Through our exclusive partnership with the NBA, we’re committed to develop next-generation, value-added products, and services, like emBET, to drive fan and bettor engagement.”

Scott Kaufman-Ross, NBA Executive Vice President of Media and Gaming, said, “Integrating emBET is consistent with the NBA’s vision to create hyper-personalized and customized viewing experiences within NBA games. For NBA fans who want to wager on our games during live action, they can now elect to receive contextualized betting information directly on NBA League Pass.”

He said that “fans can see the odds updating in real-time and still keep their eyes on the game, and if something happens that makes them want to place a bet, they have an easy avenue to do that.”

What emBET in-play technology provides

emBET in-play technology allows fans of the NBA and NBA League Pass app user to view live odds such as point spreads, totals, and moneylines from DraftKings and FanDuel while watching their favorite team.

It allows fans to track odds and market changes for daily NBA action, in order to stay updated on betting trends and to ultimately place timely wagers within the NBA streaming service.

Fans will not yet be able to place a bet directly with the NBA League Pass app itself, but a link to specific bets will be provided to users wanting to place a wager on the contest they are watching. Betting integration will be an opt-in function on the League Pass app.

Those with existing FanDuel or DraftKings accounts will be able to access betting opportunities through the embedded link on the League Pass app. FanDuel and DraftKings are two of our best sports betting apps.

Sportradar will also provide trivia, along with the stats from the NBA.

The optional integration service is not yet available for desktop and smart TV options. For now, only mobile users will have access to the full emBET suite.

What it means

Thanks to the legalization of sports betting in nearly 40 U.S. states, the necessity to incorporate wagering opportunities into all aspects of a sporting experience has become paramount.

Sports leagues, teams, media, and streaming outlets have been attempting to adopt sports betting content into their platforms to "enhance the overall sports viewing experience." NBA League Pass is just the latest to do so.

The total mainstreaming of sports betting is growing closer to completion, with league streaming apps joining media outlets such as ESPN, which now has the ESPN BET app, providing live odds during its broadcasts.

The NBA itself has been at the forefront of efforts to tie the sports betting world to the top leagues in the world. The league is now focusing more on the world of micro-betting.

Expect the evolution of league/sports betting partnerships to continue developing and, in the NBA's case, for Sportradar to be in the mix for any growth plans.

Monetizing an almost completely mainstream gambling industry is in the best interest of the NBA. Sportradar, with which the league has had a relationship since 2016 and with which the NBA owns a 3% stake, seems to have an inside track on the future of the sport's wagering integration plans.
