Buzz: Jokic Passes Embiid as MVP Betting Favorite

The NBA regular season may be winding down, but the MVP race is just heating up.

Since January, Joel Embiid has been the betting favorite at nearly all sportsbooks, hitting -140 at BetMGM just yesterday.

However, the race tightened overnight, as Jokic became the favorite at both BetMGM and DraftKings sportsbooks.

Below is an interesting graph of the market movement for the award throughout the season:

Jokic ranks 10th in points, second in rebounds, and eighth in assists as he looks to defend his MVP crown from last season and propel the Nuggets up the Western Conference standings.

He has 19 triple-doubles and 61 double-doubles on the season, which has helped him garner more MVP support.

Embiid has battled injuries recently, which shouldn't come as a surprise, considering his missed time in recent seasons.

When on the court, he's been sensational, averaging 29.9 points per game and 11 rebounds, giving the city of Philadelphia hope as the 76ers sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Embiid still has time to prove himself worthy of the award, which would be a boon to the franchise and city - as the most exciting thing to happen in recent Philadelphia sports memory is the creation of Gritty and the signing of Bryce Harper to perpetuate the Phillies' streak of missing the playoffs.
