#1787Leg 1 home. Berankis in straights. Sweeting up next. Still looking at this Sock-Kendrick match for something ... but I think I am just going to watch. I have a feeling Kendrick might win even with the relative lack of match play. Toss-up really, but some money backing Sock.Comment -

#1788For this evening ...
Caloundra Challenger: Millman + Lu [-214]
Doing this to win half a unit, so the risk winds up being -107 simply because I don't like laying the massive chalk although I would be shocked to see either of these guys lose. Millman gets the young Swiss Laaksonen. He ousted seeded Klaasen, but as I said in the preview for that one - Klaasen looks like he's not interested in playing tennis, so don't read a ton into that. Millman meanwhile looks focused here as he tries to rebuild his ranking after injury last year. He was solid at Burnie last week, losing in the quarters to finalist Groth. Last year, he nearly beat Tomic on this court - losing 7-6 in the third set. That seems to be motivation for him this year from what I have read. Lu gets Reid, another Aussie. Lu crushed him in straights last week in Burnie. Reid's serve was weak and Lu took advantage. Lu showed no hangover effect from losing earlier than expected last week as he whipped Lindahl in straights. Reid had little issue with Aussie Isaac Frost. Reid could push Lu a little more this week, but nothing suggests he's consistent enough to beat Lu, unless Lu plays very poorly.Comment -

#1789By the way for anyone who cares, Dallas Challenger is streaming some matches on their site. I should have gone. There were like three people in the stands during the Ginepri match. I could totally heckle the fukk out of these guys and get kicked out. Looking forward to the March one near my area as well.
I think the Sock match is one and Querrey.Comment -

WTA Paris: Mattek-Sands -130
BMS time. True, BMS had her issues against Grandma Jill Craybas yesterday, but this surface suits her game pretty well. She made the semis here last year and generally has been competitive on the surface, beating players she should beat. Barrois falls into that category, I think. She's barely broken a sweat through qualis and a round here. This is a step up for her though. It will be a grind, but I think perhaps the tougher matches BMS has seen in 2012 will help her hold her nerve better.
Dallas Challenger: Zverev -135
Zverev draws the teen, Denis Kudla. Kudla has got some game, for sure. He showed a good serve and nerve to be Duclos in his opener here. Zverev dispactched Ram in straights and definitely has the experience edge here. Solid serve and some solid results on this indoor surface on the Challenger level in the last year. Kudla also hasn't seen very many lefties, just 1-4 from the records I find. That should also work in Zverev's favor here.

#1796Usually I love the grind of tennis betting... I did it for all 12 months last year and very rarely even took more then 2 days off of it.... but wow, I'm burnt out so far in 2012. The Australian Open completely wiped me out and I can't get myself to cap even one match... I don't have it in me at all, which is surprising because up until about a month ago, tennis was probably my favorite sport to bet. Very weird.Comment -

#1797I know what you mean. Tennis betting looks easy but it's not quite so easy to stay on top of the books. My humble opinion is if you want to win consistently, it has got to be live betting (with live streams). But it will get you burned out even fasterOriginally posted by BrianLavertyUsually I love the grind of tennis betting... #1798Weird things with total on Chang vs. Tanasugarn. Today I liked almost no games but OVER 20.5 here. But bet365 has set it to 22.5 just before live game. I know not a big deal for WTA, since rarely they not break each other before 6th, but anyway.Comment -

90/44 on indoors and seemed very solid since from the qualies here. Just 8 games dropped in 3 qualies matches, while Mattek as you said had to fight with Broady and with Craybas. Barrois plays a '80 years tennis style that can really creates some problem to the too "linear" game of Melanie.
Ok the american did SF last year beating some good name like Petkovic, but at the same time Barrois took one set to the finalist Clijsters.
Hope for you I'm wrong but confidence in Tennis is everything and the qualies score says Barrois is very confident, BMS is less. But GL anyway
Like your Zverev pick instead, probably I'll pick him.Comment -

#1801BMS is a character. She's good for the women's game, gives it some flavor outside of the screechers and the Williams drama.
I sound like a Bovada schill every day too ... but another absolute plus for them is that they continue to adjust the start times as matches get delayed due to longer matches ... on the ATP-WTA and Challenger levels. 5Dimes will repost WTA & ATP if you ask, but Challenger matches, once their listed start times pass ... they won't put them back up.Comment -

#1802Dallas Challenger Parlay: Darcis + Berankis [-103]
Darcis draws Bogdanovic. Both guys rolled in their openers, but there is a clear class gap between these two. Darcis played well on this indoor surface in 2011 at 14-4, split between Challengers and ATP level matches. He made the quarters in Vienna at the ATP level and his losses mainly came to either the higher quality Challenger level guys or ATP main draw guys. Bogdanovic drew some Challenger wins, but nothing impressive. Darcis looked healthy in his opener and health was the main question with him coming in. Berankis began the process of turning his season around with a straight sets win in his opener. His serve was stout and he looked to get stronger as the match went on. Begemann is the opponent today. He worked past dirt baller Salamanca in his opener in 3. He doesn't play a ton on this surface and so long as Berankis brings that solid serve back today, this match should be on his racket.
WTA Paris: Lepchenko +160
Taking a flyer here on the Russian transferred American, Varvara Lepchenko. She draws McHale. McHale should be full of confidence after winning a pair of Fed Cup matches on a similar surface, but it's been a whirlwind few days for her as she's flown from the US to Paris to get prepped here. On top of that, she came in expected Kanepi, but now draws Lepchenko after Kanepi withdrew. I think the key here is how McHale comes in emotionally after the big weekend in Fed Cup play. Could turn up amped up and ready to go or could be flat. I think throwing in that Lepchenko has the odd lefty game that has troubled McHale some in the past and McHale's relative inexperience on this surface ... and there is a possibility of an upset. Lepchenko also has match play in qualis on these courts to draw on.Comment -

#1819Dallas Challenger: Van Der Merwe +105
The tall South African gets Jack Sock today. The American teen wunderkind worked a three set win over Kendrick yesterday, but was struggling for the better part of the 1st two set and part of the 2nd. Some of this is due to some sort of abdominal injury he suffered in practice recently. The injury apparently doesn't allow him a full range of motion on his serve if it's not warmed up properly from what I read. That seems pretty obvious looking at his first set serve stats and then stats the rest of the way through. I think Sock also benefited from Kendrick melting down after he won the tie break in the 2nd. Kendrick got pretty frustrated I think that Sock was able to turn the match around. VDM pumped out 17 aces and looked very comfortable with his serve on these courts yesterday in a straight sets win. VDM had a very poor start to the season, so yesterday might be a jump start for him albeit against a low level competitor. Sock will be tougher and I don't see the injury as the final determining factor, but given that and the inconsistencies of youth ... I'm taking a flyer on Van Der Merwe here. He's no world beater, but his serve could control this match if he can keep similar form to yesterday.Comment -
