The Berdych future worked perfectly though and it sets up for a hedge because he'll definitely be a pretty solid favorite against Monfils.

#1682Crappy day otherwise. Groth lost. Youzhny too good on return against Berrer. Seem to remember the semifinals and finals of tournaments killed me a lot last year. May have to adopt a no weekend betting policy if it holds up here early.Comment -

#1683Vina Del Mar Parlay: Berlocq + Monaco [+108]
Berlocq draws Chela who was not overly impressive in surviving Souza yesterday in 3. He was within a point or two in the tie break in the 2nd set of losing the match outright. He rallied though and rolled in the 3rd as Souza ran out of gas. Berlocq's trip to the semis here has been uneventful for the most part as he's crushed lesser competition. This will be a good litmus test for him. Berlocq was so dominant on the Challenger circuit on clay in 2011, winning five titles late in the year. Time for him to do it at the ATP level more consistently. Monaco draws Chardy and while Chardy has been rolling this week, his track record on dirt indicates that he doesn't often step up to beat he cream of the crop in dirt ballers. Monaco may not be quite in the elite class on dirt, but he's still one of the better guys on the surface. He struggled early against Montanes and then steamrolled him 6-1, 6-1 after dropping a set. Chardy can get in these grooves where he runs deep into tournaments, but it's been a bit since he's done it at this level. This is his first real test of the tournament and I'll pay to find out where he's really at.Comment -

#1684I'm not convinced on Berlocq even though it is Chela he's playing--Chela actually hasn't had too bad results this year--but agree on Monaco

Monaco whippin' Chardy's ass to complete the parlay [well closing in hopefully - famous last words maybe if he chokes]. Going to hedge real small on the Berdych future tomorrow with Monfils. I think Berdych takes him, but want to make sure I get something out of it.

Parlay: Zopp + Youzhny [+155]
Zopp in the Kazan Challenger final against Copil. Copil is capable on this surface, but Zopp has been real solid this week. Youzhny against Lacko in the Zagreb final. Experience + superior return skills to the Russian.Comment -

#1690Sport_fish he had Berdych as a futures bet earlier so if he wants he can hedge it
Personally I'm going with Berdych small, he has just been so dominant this week; if he serves like he has been last few matches Monfis is in trouble. Monfis's track record in finals is terrible, and last match he should have put Simon away much easier--don't trust him in this match. I read a comment somewhere about his knee, I don't know the extent of Monfis's knee's health but his double faults last match (and amount of aces) could be attributed to him not wanting to extend points---but I don't think this is as much a factor (if it is true) than dealing with Berdych's dominant service game.Comment -

#1692Berdych is making this awfully difficult. He had La Monf dead in the 2nd set, up a break and blew that. Now battling on-serve deep in the 3rd at 4-3 Berdy.Comment -

#1694Health and those double faults came back to haunt Monfis despite the lapse in Berdych's concentration in the 2nd----at least Berdych pulled it out! (: Monfis is still a great fade in any final. When Berdych's serve is on he can beat almost anyone imoComment -

#1699Good luck. For fun, I may sprinkle some of both the 2-1 results at good odds. +300 if Monaco wins, +400 for Berlocq. I know we had the discussion with weaver the other day on how to play this for maximum money, but I don't have an ends in three sets option, so this is the only way. Something to do before the SB.

#1701Hey guys, I'm trying something new on the side .. entering the Blogosphere. Hoping to actually make this something professional-ish in the long-run with some interviews and what not. For now, putting my thoughts up there as well as tournament previews for select Challengers, tour events and later this week - Davis Cup. Would appreciate it if you checked it out if you have time.
Super Bowl ... playing two props for sure: Manningham to Score a TD and Two Point Conversion Attempted. Maybe one more prop, probably not playing a side or total.Comment -

Caloundra Challenger: Laaksonen +175
Klaasen could come out and whip this Swiss teenager, but after Klaasen's disheartening 6-2, 6-0 loss to Adam Feeney in Burnie ... no way in hell I think he deserves to be favored this large. You look at this career recently on this surface and he has lost to some very questionable sorts/low ranked guys.Comment -

Challenger Parlay: Brands + Kamke [-135]
Big class gaps for both these players over their opponents. Brands draws de Veigy in Quimper. de Veigy has never won a main draw match on any level on this indoor surface. Brands' 2012 has been poor so far, 0-4, but his pedigree on this surface - a Challenger title and final last year + a more solid serve - is enough to back him here. Kamke is in Dallas against Bhambri. Kamke also is in a bit of a sluggish spot after losing to Dolgopolov in 5 in Melbourne, he was beaten routinely in straights last week in Montpellier by Serra. Kamke much like Brands though has the pedigree on this surface, a Challenger title last year and a handful of ATP wins as well. Bhambri is 1-2 on the season and just does not match-up well against players inside the Top 100 mostly. This is really one Kamke has to win if he's going to be more than a tweener on the Challenger/ATP levels.Comment -
