Simon rolled over. Nice! 6-0 in the 5th to MELZER! Interesting, not watching, but Guy Forget may have really encited this result - he was quoted in a paper saying that Simon has the advantage today because Melzer has played a lot of tennis in the past two days and the longer this match went, the more it favored Simon ... hehe. Nice one French Fry!

DELIC +100
Delic against Andreas Beck. Beck is suspect on this surface to big serves and Delic possess one of those rocket launcher serves when it's working. Delic made a Challenger final on this surface late last year. Beck is just 2-3 on this surface in 2011 and the losses share that theme of bigger servers troubling him. If Delic gets that serve in consistently, I'm looking for an upset here.

BERANKIS -140
Talent, talent, talent over lack of talent as Berankis takes on Bogomolov. Berankis has had some disadvantageous draws to start this season, seeing Del Potro & Roddick early in his last two tournaments. Not the case today against qualifier Alex Bogomolov, Jr. Bogomolov has a productive record on outdoor hard courts, but they mainly have come through qualifying and Challenger level events over the years. Berankis is still learning a bit on this surface as well, but has shown plenty of overall ability on the surface. Berankis has cut his teeth well at the last two Slams on this surface, winning matches in main draw & now needs to start following up with wins against beatable opponents in these main level ATP tournaments.

BOPANNA +195
Bopanna draws Tomic and this is maybe some of the best singles stuff that Bopanna has produced in recent times. He played a great, five set match against Troicki in a hostile setting in Davis Cup play. After losing that tough one, he turned right to qualis here at Indian Wells and made it through in two tough matches. He draws Tomic. For all Tomic's talent, he's never produced much outside of Australia. Tomic withdrew from his last match in the Dallas Challenger in late February due to illness. He's never played a match at Indian Wells, so taking the match-tested Indian who seems to be playing well at the moment.

SAFINA +170
Let the merciless mockery commence! Safina draws Hantuchova today and Safina got a nice confidence boosting win in the first round. It was the type of match that someone of her former caliber SHOULD win like she did. That is somewhat telling to me. She served fairly well, dishing out only two break points. Hantuchova will be a big step up in level today, but Hantuchova also isn't a model of consistency. They split two meetings last Summer on hard courts with Safina winning in New Haven & Hantuchova returning the favor the next week at the US Open. Hantuchova has been off for nearly a month since a good run in Doha, so she may be a little rusty although she has played these courts many, many times. Safina has talked much about being more positive and she's come a good way since her ridiculously horrid start to the year. She has a long way to go, but something is stuck with me today that she rates a chance.

WTA: PETKOVIC -130
The Dancing German looks to get her groove on today against Bartoli. Bartoli took a set to get comfortable yesterday against Nicolescu and wound up playing nearly three hours as a result. Her serve was plenty leaky as usual, allowing 12 breakers and saving seven. Petkovic played Safarova and won in two tight sets, showing an unbreakable serve in winning over 75% of the points off her 1st & 2nd serve. These two met in Brisbane to start off the year and Petkovic used her power to work past Bartoli in straights in that one. With Bartoli coming off a long match, give Petkovic the edge here if she serves anywhere close to what she did yesterday.
ATP: BECKER -105
Becker draws Bellucci. Neither has shown consistency on the outdoor hard courts, but Becker was in control in his 1st round match against de Bakker. He flashed a solid serve with 11 aces and no break opps. Bellucci will be playing his first match on this surface since Australia and hasn't played at all since mid-February on clay. This figures to be a simple bout of serve vs. serve. Both can control a match with their serve when it's working and both can lose control quick when their serve is not on. With Becker already having a solid match under his belt here, I think he has an edge.

#1574PAVLYUCHENKOVA -135
She goes against Peer who can on occasion be a solid player on this surface. However, I like the Russian's game on this surface much more as far as consistency. I'm 0-2 today, so this is probably a good fade. I just think that Pavlyuchenkova serves better and has more consistent groundies and that can get the job done today.
