#1755Sorry shari, I was off for a game... I took Spain 2-0 or 3-0 because the juice on ML or even -1 was too heavy. and did not feel comfortable taking them -2. Glad it hit after a terrible day in tennis. waiting for your tuesday picks.Comment -

#1759Bad night on here but made out well with that book error. Ended up buying back Wawa right before I put the first set correct score play in so I ended $500 up on that one. Thank goodness for their mistake!! Withdrew the cash as soon as they graded it.
Personally I'd say no but I also don't like giving anyone 8 points in the first round especially. Nishikori is a good player and I think it won't be as easy for Nadal to close this one out as the odds suggest. He'll still win it but I don't believe it will be a massive blowout. Watch he bagels him in 3.Comment -

Isner - hasn't played on grass since July '08 and is 1-5 lifetime on grass. He's a big server who showed some good form during the clay season.
Mahut - played the transition tourneys leading into Wimbledon and held his own. Is 35-15 lifetime on grass, 12-4 since July '09. Also a big server who has won 5 in a row against big serving opponents.
Head to head these two are 1-0: Mahut beat Isner back in '08 on grass.
If I were betting this match, and I still may, I'd have to take Mahut. You could argue that Isner's game has improved since he last played grass 2 years ago, but I can't risk putting money on that without seeing him on this surface first. Mahut has the grass court experience and has been doing well on it whereas Isner is a complete unknown to me at this point on the surface.
Best of luck whatever you decide to do!!Comment -

#1763Hey shari, thanks for all your great insight. Started a thread, please take a look if you can. Agree with you that Nadal may not win 6-0...but I think he gets it done in three sets for the under of 30.5, any thoughts on this. Federer had it today when he really wanted to it seemed like he didnt really even turn it on till midway thru that third set and I don't expect Nadal to do that. Could go over though, I had L Hewitt under today and while Hewitt was great in sets 2 thru 4 only losing 4 games, he lost the first set 7-5 and the match went over.Comment -

I need an expert opinion on a match between two frenchmen Marc Gicquel v Paul-Henri Mathie.
Who do you think will go through to the next round?

#1768Hey hawley! I'll give you some stats on Isner and Mahut and then I'll let you make up your mind.

#1769I'm here Tommy! Just trying to sort my plays out before my son wakes up.
I don't like either player in this one to be honest. Mathieu retired from the French and has been MIA since and I don't like Gicquel on grass. If I had to pick, I'd take Mathieu because that's what my instincts are telling me is the play because of the odds but I'm going to avoid this one altogether.Comment -

#1773Shari the over in the Mahut Isner match seems juicy. Mahut is rolling right now but he's also tired, he's played some crazy long ass matches as of late. I see Mahut taking the one of the first two sets, but getting tired down the stretch. Tough match to call.

#1774I'm trying something new today to win back your cash for those who tailed me on a horrid day in here yesterday. Instead of posting dogs today, I'm going to go the safe route and post handicap plays on the dogs I like. I will be playing a few of these on the ML as well but I suggest you take the points or just go small on the dogs. I'm going to release plays blocks at a time just to keep it easier for me to track. As always, I'll try to answer any questions and provide reasons for my picks if you require them. Just bear with me if I'm a bit slow - I'm a Mommy too. Best of luck everyone!
My early plays
Martin Fischer -153
Tobias Kamke +5.5 -125
Guillermo Alcaide +6.5 -110
Robert Kendrick +6.5 -105 (I do not believe he'll win but he can keep it close. I like the over here as well)
Thomas Belluci -5 -110

If it wasn't for Stepanek withdrawing, Soeda wouldn't even be here - he lost in QF to Witten of all people (shoddy grass form) whereas Fischer's form has been great and he made it through QF without dropping a set.
Soeda has only one match of Slam experience and that was back in '07 so he hasn't proven he has what it takes to last a 5 setter whereas Fischer has 25 Slam matches under his belt despite Soeda turning pro a year earlier. Basically I'm going with the guy who has hit his career high ranking now, has the Slam experience, has proven since RG that he's in form and deserves to be here by qualifying for it. Plus he loves grass because it suits his playing style. That's not to say I'm right though of course!Last edited by shari91; 06-22-10, 04:43 AM.Comment -
