Stosur was stronger than ED. Her chest shoulders and arms were Serena-like. ED played great. Shame one had to lose. Great game for Womens sports in general and special for tennis. Awesome.

I think Stosur's serve is about as good as it's going to get considering the number of years she's been working on it to get it to this point. I'd rate it right after Serena's and considering the strength of her 2nd serve when it's on, very few people could even hope to contend with it. That match says a lot about what an amazing returner Demented is. Sometimes that skill gets overlooked because it's not as flashy as serving aces but being able to keep someone's serve in no matter how hard they're coming at you and always being able to get that extra ball in play is absolutely incredible. If Demented wasn't such a basketcase it'd be scary how much damage she could do this year.

In my opinion, until Sammy sorts out her forehand she'll never win a Slam. Too weak and everyone knows it. She can get away with ball bashing against lesser opponents but once she's up against anyone with substance, they're strong enough to keep forcing her to play those shots and she's terribly exposed.

I'll have to disagree here. I'm off the Stosur train against Clijsters. I really can't see her winning that match. She has the will to win but that doesn't compensate for severe weaknesses in her game. Demented couldn't exploit them 100% because her brain is fried. I just think Kim is a class or two above that and won't fall in the same trap.

She'd be the best in the world, no doubt in my mind. Dementieva is a kind of tennis genius, but like so many geniuses, has psychological issues that hold her back. When she's on, I don't think Wozniacki or Serena or anyone else can play as well as she does. This was her second collapse against top opposition in succession, the one before was against Woz in New Haven where she also gifted the match in the 3rd set tiebreak after self-destructing while serving for the match. Unfortunately, I think her self-doubts will keep her from even coming close to her full potential.

I wouldn't be able to make a big play on either of these two in this match. We thought the Stosur match was stressful. The thought of having any decent % of one's bankroll on this match is just frightening to me. Hoping to drag it out of TB what angle he's coming from because I really cannot see it either way. Gun to head, I'm taking Woz.

I've also been leaning Wicky and will most likely be making a play on her. Still trying to clear my head on that one too.

Also today pretty nice bet is Soderling Robin - Montanes Albert Under
Soderling R. last 2 games was more than solid, he plays against Dent. T. and De Bakker T. both players shows really good performance especially Dent. T.
Montanes also this is one of the best tournament, but I don't think he can beat Soderling or even get 1 set in this one.

I preach this a lot in my thread but I feel like I haven't done it this week so I'll do it again: Unless you spot an obvious fix happening in a match, ignore line movement in tennis. Any 'sharp' bettors will have jumped on a weak line early before we see much of any movement. They're not pounding it right before they close 99% of the time.

I would be willing to place a strong bet right now that any line movement in Sharapova's favour is purely because Americans are waking up, looking at odds and seeing that they can get a good price on a very well-known player. Unless you're a pretty diligent tennis bettor, you'd have no clue what Woz has been up to her past 12 matches as those tournaments were considered minor to most people and didn't even hit their radar.

If you like Sharapova, take her and ignore the line movement. The same goes for Woz. There are too many examples this week alone of a player's odds falling only to lose a match which you can only assume is a result of casual tennis bettors upping the volume of activity because it's a Slam.

I'm waiting to hear back from TB to shed some light, keeping in mind though that him and I are a very different type of bettor. I hate laying chalk and prefer to go with dogs, even if that means I lose one day only to make a profit the next whereas TB likes to lay the chalk when he feels confident. Different styles but they work for both of us and hopefully help the tennis forum out as a whole for those who prefer one style over another. As a dog lover though, I just need to hear why this is TB's dog of the year bet in this one because this is as clear as mud to me.

I really think your approach is the best one. Put a little on so you have a bit more reason to cheer for your girl but don't put yourself in a position that you'll be screwed after the match if she doesn't win. Regardless of who you like. Just my opinion anyway. Too many other matches that are easier to bet on without losing 5 years of your life on this one.

I've thought of that but I actually like the way my book does it. Even though it pisses me off when I keep happening to choose matches with retirements lately that would've worked in my favour, that rule has pulled me out of trouble many times so I think it's pretty close to even.

In the long run it's got to be pretty close to even... One of my locals grades them win/lose no matter when the retire, and of course the last 2 bets I made that had retirements, my player retired and I had to take the loss. And to quote my favorite movie (True Romance by Tarantino), "that's the way it goes, but don't forget, it goes the other way too."

Wicky. Woz.

Just got finished watching the Woz/Sharapova match. And the stats in that match confirm what I thought while watching - Maria actually played a decent match. Double the amount of winners than Woz, 9 breakpoint opportunities, 71% winners on 1st serve, 16 of 18 net approaches won and only 6 more double faults than Woz which is actually good for Maria.

It just seems that Woz continued to do what she's been doing for 13 straight matches now. Get the extra ball in play and draw unforced errors from her opponent. Keep them running and they'll eventually wear down if their game isn't strong enough which Maria's clearly isn't at regardless of how she's been serving up until now. She needs to stop being a one-trick pony who is so dependent on her serve and actually learn some defence and how to keep the ball in play instead of just trying to bash it and pray for a winner. That style isn't going to be as successful as it once was when she's up against a player who is better than her at this point.

Hoping that at least one or two of you on Sharapova maybe lowered your bet after reading my post earlier. I didn't have a lot on Woz and even though she won, I'm ok with that. And also paid attention to my post about line movement - once again, this match and the Fish/Djoko over dropping 18 cents in 30 seconds proved that it doesn't really mean much in tennis for the most part.

I lost a decent amount on Sharapova,she lost her match when she gave away two importent servegems with double faults which 1 gem she did 3 doublefaults in a row!!! And she couldent take advantage of all her breakpoints.Its sad to see all theese topplayers on the WTA tour with a lot of routine that dosent seem to handle the pressure i meen it hapens regulary and i think when you play at this level it should be something that you must handle.

So far today I know I like Schiavone and Wawrinka.

The only thing I'm debating with Schiavone is if I want to just take her for the 1st set at a bit of a lower price or take her for the whole match. Still looking at the other matches so no leans on those yet. Best of luck to everyone today!!
