I'm definitely not a good tennis capper by far but for some reason I can pick the women quite well although they don't always play along with me. I said yesterday the two plays I really liked out of everything were Schiavone and Stosur. Luckily for me they both came through but I know you had a lot riding on Demented and I also know how it feels to watch your player piss a match away. Unfortunately in the WTA it's all too common.

Thanks Shari. it's really my fault for chasing large after a bad day. I know better but was kind of on tilt. I will grind it out and get it back slowly and work on my money management. Once again congratulations on a awesome win.

Even I doubted her at the start of the 3rd but then I remembered how much of a headcase Demented is too so they kind of balanced each other out. Still amazed that Sammy saved those 4 matchpoints and came back to win after pissing away the match herself. Crazy stuff.

dementiava's mom looked scared as hell of dementiava. looked like dementiava was going to get home and beat the hell out of her mom. take her frustration out and her mom knew it.

dementiava did look like a sore loser though and it was funny as hell. good call shari. i stayed away from this match.

stosur cost me a small fortune in the paris final earlier this year... not a great favorite, but a great underdog... she'd never win this match without the experience she's acquired - especially during her French Open run

Those two seem to have a really weird relationship even when Demented's doing well. Her mother shows as much joy as a Romanian gymnast getting ready to jump on the balance beam for a compulsory event at the Olympics. Must be an Eastern Euro thing.

She definitely needs to receive more warnings though. Just because they're not talking to each other in English you don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that they're not discussing the weather between points.

I'm just glad my 'fade Demented' streak is over. If she would've won today I would've had to lay a ton of chalk on Kimmy just to get what I spent on Hantuchova and Stosur back. I knew that crazy ass was going down but I just called it one match too early. Piss me off but still happy with today!!

I rarely ever bet on tennis unless I something 'over the odds' jumps out like today, and I don't know how you guys who do this stuff day in day out manage to maintain sanity. After the first set that stuff gets totally messy.

That was one of the most thrilling matches I've ever seen. The good news is that Stosur's comeback saved my day. The bad news is that I had about three heart attacks before the game ended.

Poor Dementieva, I really feel for her, what a heartbreaking loss with her mother there and everything. She was the better player overall, but choked. Four match points and couldn't close... That one is going to sting for a long time. Not taking anything away from Stosur, though. Great fighter.

I don't think I'm going to bet against Dementieva for a while though. I'm just going to back her when she's the underdog... she seems to be the kind of player who can be a great underdog or terrible favorite, depending on the day. If she can overcome her mental obstacles, she clearly has the talent to be #1.

best game of the open for me so far

i was at the gym and got stuck watching most of the third set it was so good

i would of been happy to have had no money on the match and just watch it and appreciate teh tennis but hitting stosur for a few units made the game a bit better
