Oh well. 1-1 today hitting the big dog with Stosur. Gotta chew on the Stosur price against Serena tomorrow, lots of people will be on Stosur now for sure and I had her winning this quarter ... so probably still the play, but due diligence to be done.

Things I THINK I Know ... Tuesday, June 1st

I THINK that Russians are a crazy breed. I also think it's a bit insane to see Berdych backed upwards of -200 in this spot. He buried Isner & then crushed an obviously defeated Murray. Will Youzhny fall to a similar fate? Perhaps. But the head-2-head indicates that this will be a battle to the end and that alone, I THINK makes Youzhny at solid plus odds worth a roll here. Berdych's serve has been stellar in this tournament and if it remains that on Tuesday, he likely will roll into the semis. Still, there is always the mental aspect to consider and as such, I THINK I take the Russian in the only spot you can take him ... as a solid dog. Roulette it.

Also I am Dementied as I will roll on Demetieva at +140 against Petrova. It's Russian vs. Russian which means expected the unexpected. Calf injury? Nah. Petrova retires. Syndicate says so.

Because I'm out of my mind right now, I'm thinking of taking both Youzhny and Dementieva for sizable amounts. The way I see it, at least one will win. If that happens, then I'll have made a decent little profit. If it doesn't, well, I'll be in trouble!

Usually 2 ways to bet on Russian vs. Russian. OVERs almost always seem to have a shot and taking the underdog. Not perfect, but better than being burned by chalk.

Not sure about much tomorrow. I know I like the Stosur price, but am still not sure if I want to bite. I'm thinking mostly about a Djokovic-Jankovic parlay.

Things I THINK I Know ... Wednesday, June 2nd

I THINK in looking at Wednesday's matches, I am confident that Djokovic will dispatch of Melzer in the end but would not wager the -380 or so straight up. I THINK Jankovic is also a solid pick against Shvedova, but the single price of well over -400 does not provide a smart wager even against an inexperienced slam player. You could pair Djokovic + Jankovic for a parlay, but the cost is still about -184. That's above my personal threshold on single plays in tennis and thus, I THINK it does not make a ton of sense for me when pairing two plays together. I do THINK it will hit though.

As a matter of principle, I will be taking Stosur at +200 for SBR points only. I picked Stosur to make the final when the draws were released, so I am going to stick with my guns. I thought Serena would be the opponent here and favored the survivor of the Henin-Stosur match to beat her. Most going on Serena stick to her ability to rise up in Slams and get big wins, but let's not forget that this is her worst surface and the only Slam in which she has never advanced to the finals. Stosur even after her run to the semis her last year, gets little respect on clay I THINK. Truly, she did not have to be at her best against Henin to win and will need to be to take down Serena. But Serena is not invincible on dirt, far from it. I THINK if Stosur takes the mind set that she usually has of pretty much "going for it" that is her best opportunity here. She will need to bring her absolute Grade A serve to this match. That is a strength for both as Serena has offered just 17 break opps in four rounds and Stosur, 21. Stosur's experience at RG last year I THINK will serve her well at this stage as she will not be overwhelmed by the moment + she's faced Serena in a Slam earlier this year, so she knows what to expect. For me, there is little point to taking Serena at -250 or so in a match that is being played on a surface that will negate to an extent some of her best weaponry. So it's balls deep in love with Stosur at +200. Don't go overboard, but the Aussie has a chance I THINK.

Stosur's serve has been great so far and she has pounded Serena's 2nd serve. Needs to try and get this in two I think. Don't let that sleeping giant wake up in a 3rd set.

Shist. Tie breaker. This might be Stosur's do or die moment in this match although I thought the same thing last year when Kuznetsova blew the 2nd set to Serena in the French, but ultimately won late in the 3rd set.

Piss poor there. Jankovic won the break fest in two sets. Gotta hope Stosur regroups here early. An early break on Serena sure would be superb! A good ride so far for +200, but let's not finish flat here.
