How to know to buy odds now or later
What do you guys use as a rule of thumb for whether the opening line will rise or fall for a player?

If anyone thinks they know this, then they should also have all the winning lottery numbers ever.

Only when you have a big news in your hand and are quick. Let's say the final of the tournament is Nadal vs Djokovic , and Nadal is playing doubles but gets injured and leaves. Backing Djoko ML because he will face a injured player is a good idea. But sometimes you know the odds are dropping because you look at the h2h, stats in the surface and everything and the odd looks too good.

the very large favorites usually drop before start as money comes in on big dogs, after the
automatic big fave stacking is over.
the smaller favorites usually expand higher.
        for ex. a -1200 can drop to -975 or a -700 to -550,
        while a -120 will rise to -145 or -135 to -150.
that's the rule of thumb i've noticed although there are exceptions.

If it's value, it's usually going to fall.
