Ep any thoughts on isner match. I watched this match live yesterday front row and other then having a good serve isner didnt look worth a shit. He seems to have no power after serve and cant move very good. Raonic beat himself after leading 4-1 in 2nd set. His shoulder was hurting and he looked gas and isner even mentioned that after the match in his post court interview. Any thoughts? I was thinking joker -4 but not sure???

That's a tough # against Isner just because of the serve. Having not seen a power serve in quite a bit, Djokovic may take at least a set to acclimate. That could mean a TB.

I'm on the Delpo/Tursonov under. I think the Argentine wakes up and dusts him fairly easily today. BOL, anyway.

out of curiosity ep, why not play the over in the murray match? less juice than backing berdych +1.5 sets...you think berdych has a chance to win then?

Set bet protects against any result so long as Berdych gets a set obviously. Berdych usually plays him pretty tough. Also the sets are not always close between these two, so if Berdych surprised in straights - no need to sweat # of games. My personal preference really.

I think Berdych is going to take this. Be interesting to see Nadal later after all of this - if Murray loses. Cincy is his to take if he wants to go all the way.

This tournament was his as soon as Djokobo went out. At this point I'd honestly think Isner is the biggest threat to him.

If he's gunning for No. 1, he'll go for the points. I haven't read a lot of his comments this week, but I imagine the undefeated streak on hard court puts some pressure on him to give his best effort tonight.

I wouldn't discount anyone who is left from winning. I think Del Porto has probably been the poorest of the remaining players, but he wins. I would say Berdych has a good shot if he closes today.

If Nadal wins in straight sets today Berdy should quit tennis and tell himself "I am too scared to play big matches"

The last dance for the US Open starts next Monday. As always, that means you should be careful as to the motivation of most of the players, even those you don't think would necessarily no-show. Berdych and Isner are the two most prominent names here and two of the ones I would tread most carefully with. Isner played a long week in Cincy and even though he is the defending Champ twice over, I would be surprised if he extended himself much here. Berdych needed to find form last year, this year not so much. Berdych though has not played a ton of tennis, so he may swoop in and pick up the pieces for a title. The other top four seeds include Seppi as the two and Robredo as the four. It's a 250 after all. In the first two years of existence, seeded players have lost their first matches here 25% of the time minimum - so there will be some upsets early.
BERDYCH QUARTER
Querrey is the seed leading the bottom of the quarter, so that should tell you that Berdych can run through this quarter if he wants and make a trip to the semis. Berdych will face Berankis or de Schepper first up. Should be a routine win. Klizan is the other seed in the top half here. He has a bye and then Bautista-Agut or Nielsen. Even though it looks easy for Klizan there, he has not made a habit of making things easy on himself. I would expect him to face Berdych in the 3rd round, but would not be shocked if he loses before that and is one of those seeds who becomes a statistic. Querrey is one who could use some form this week. Garcia-Lopez is 1st. Winner of that faces Nieminen or Fish. This part of the quarter looks like it's he who wants it most this week. Even though he has lacked consistency in his comeback, this is a prime spot for Fish. I'd fancy one of the Americans to go up against Berdych in the quarters, although Nieminen has seemed to like these courts too.
ISNER QUARTER
Isner gets Bogomolov first-up. Not a particularly tricky match, but also not one that Isner will win if he just sleep walks through it. An in-form Tursunov, Sock or Goffin will await Isner if he survives to the next round. Tursunov especially could be the one to take Isner out early if Isner doesn't care to be here long. Paire is the top seed in the bottom part of the quarter. He gets Blake or Rhyne Williams and should be on upset alert. Melzer is another seed in the bottom who gets a bye and will take on Sijsling or de Bakker. Sijsling has been woeful the last few tournaments, so de Bakker could jump up and win that match. Gut feeling is that someone besides Isner works through to the semis. Tursunov's confidence should be fairly high coming in and he could be that guy - although his own motivation might be questionable. Paire or a suprise like James Blake could be sneaky here.
ROBREDO QUARTER
This should be by far the most competitive quarter. Robredo leads as the 4th seed. He'll face Rufin or Istomin right away and that will require him to be at his best. It's quite possible that Robredo goes down in his 1st match. Monfils returns to action and will be looking for something positive after tweaking his ankle in practice that forced him to skip Montreal. He has Mayer or Pella up first which should afford him an opportunity to win. If he is healthy, he could potentially make a run here - but nothing is certain. Up top, it's Verdasco and Rosol as the seeds. Verdasco will have to work past a grinder in Russell or Smyczek. Rosol faces Haase and could once again be looking at an early exit. Verdasco is intriguing in this spot. He hasn't played on hard courts in months, but in a fairly weak quarter - COULD be someone to watch if he starts fast.
SEPPI QUARTER
This could be the quarter without either a lot of turmoil for the seeds or one that holds form all the way through. Seppi is the 2nd seed in the tournament with Monaco as the top seed in the top half of the quarter. Seppi faces Reynolds or Steve Johnson. Either one could provide him a stiff test. Andujar plays Lu and Lu looks like he could pick him off to start. Monaco will face Mahut or Kubot. Neither has been overly solid on outdoor hard courts, so Monaco might be the one seed who has a decent start here. Dolgpolov is also in this top half. Who knows what you will get from him once again. He gets Gimeno-Traver or Roger-Vasselin first up. There's some room for him to roam here, but who knows with his lack of consistency. This looks like a topsy-turvy quarter where an unseeded player might slip through or the seeds could surprise and provide some consistentcy here. This is a tough quarter to get a read on other than I don't see any dominant player here who should be favored to make it through to the semis.

Robredo
Andujar
Klizan
