Used to enjoy hotel hopping but crowds are just worse than Wal-marts, that's saying something. Grotesquely obese (I'm 15 pounds overweight and embarrassed to wear a tight fitting T-Shirt) underdressed trash and super premium ghetto garbage everywhere imaginable.
Unless you are oblivious to this or ultra rich where you literally piss gold and shit bricks of it, you will be exposed at even medium class hotels which used to be premium ones (Luxor, MGM, Rio, Caesars, TI, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo, Mirage, etc.)
Worst was Sahara when I booked for overnight Biz trip last August, ghetto with a capital GH.
What I also hate is all the stupid Tijuana style flea market shops opening up literally in every direction. Do we really need a Ross on the strip?
Buffets have increased 2x and 3x in price and pretty much across the board cut quality immensely.

Summertime you can swap genitalia germs, oil-slick water suntan lotions and STDs in the summer with overcrowded pools, pay $100+ for couple beers and burgers poolside. No thanks.
Beautiful and classy city turned into a wasteland of scum of humanity. And I have to pay for this? I can just enjoy all this for free In Los Angeles, with a beach as a bonus at least.
agree, but there is ONE THING that made the strip better... the olive garden! cheap and it's never crowded

if you really want ghetto, the last 2 times i was in adventuredome (circus circus theme park) there were major fights going on

For the most part this is true, it makes you want to stay in the Wynn or around that axis of Palazzo/Venetian and walk across ... the other thing that sucks is that the books (Caesar's mainly, but I think all of them) have both lower limits in general and their kiosks and props are nowhere near the casino in the midwest I go to, which is weird. No parlaying them either; extremely limited, which is strange for making the trip and thinking the place is all about money or taking bets.

Anything less than Cosmo is unacceptable from a hotel perspective. I'm not sure why they don't just close LV Blvd to traffic. Walking the strip is a nightmare these days.

where else on the strip can you get all you can eat for $15 with no wait? mgm grand is somewhat reasonable, but if you do the line skip it's $52 for lunch... stuff like bellagio/wynn/caesars are 75+

so that olive garden gives a nice alternative with a nice upstairs view

I'm Italian also and when mom cooked up authentic Italian dishes growing up, Olive Garden just doesn't make the grade. Has nothing to do with being a snob.

Olive garden salads are ok though.

you're not the only one that has that opinion... but my grandma who was born in italy actually really liked the olive garden/carraba's/maggiano's

nothing wrong with a chain restaurant, my daughter works at outback and i eat there all the time... there's actually so few "real restaurant" choices left, you're almost stuck with a chain, which is fine, in many cases they get their food from the same damn place anyway!

Living in Vegas, before we try a new place, we check the county health website (Clark county) where they show all the health inspections for every restaurant. Plus, Las Vegas local channel 13 news does a segment called "dirty dining" where they highlight the restaurants that get the most demerits on their inspections. There are absolutely filthy kitchens out there serving food whilst dodging roaches and rats.

    of course it does

i grew up eating nice steaks, that doesn't mean i won't set foot in a burger king... if your only meals have to be home cooked or "the best" then you're gonna waste all day cooking, and/or waste all your money

some people live to eat, some eat to live... nothing wrong with either approach, or mix and match

absolutely, that's why i defend the chain restaurants, they often have much higher standards of food storage and cleanliness than the "mom and pop" places... especially stuff like indian/mexican food, if you set foot in those kitchens you would never eat in a restaurant again

Every trip I take to any city in the USA more than one person warns me that wherever I am going it is dangerous.

Every single hotel review I read mentions the safety of going outside the hotel in the reviews a lot.

But it almost never seems that way when there.

I don't know if I am just too casual and don't notice, or if you guys are over-sensitized to danger and think it's all over the place when it isn't.

that's part of it, also from my point of view in milwaukee, i've already been stabbed and robbed and been in some pretty unsafe areas quite a bit... but i don't let that deter me from living my life, both times i was in the adventuredome i wanted to go on some rides

after 2 straight times of dumbass kids fighting in there, i probably won't be back though, even though the rides are fun it's not worth the uncomfortable feeling

^Nothing to fear but fear itself. Carry and conceal.

Soft on crime, high drug use and homelessness can ruin a city in no time and make it very dangerous.

    Question for you regulars

I’m going to Vegas soon and sharing a room with my cousin. Not that I don’t trust the guy, but I don’t necessarily want to share the hotel room safe with him. What are the best options for keeping my cash safe? Obviously I won’t be able to carry all the cash in my wallet 24/7.

I’ve heard that setting up a marker with the casino can be very limiting when it comes to needing cash for strip club, other casino, etc.

Am I able deposit all my cash into the casinos sports betting app, and simply withdraw from the casino cage as needed?

Or should I turn all my cash into $500 slot machine vouchers (which I can easily hold in my wallet), and simply cash them at the cage when needed?

is he using the safe? whichever one of you doesn't use the safe, i would just do ATM withdrawals, you can find machines with only a $3 fee... if you don't like ATMs then you can carry a couple traveler's checks, i'm pretty sure the casinos still cash those for no fee

Agree. Hollywood Park used to have night racing on Friday nights. With $1 hot dogs and beer specials, if I remember correctly.

Last year we went to Santa Anita on a Sunday and the place was like a ghost town.
