Unlike Me, Be Smart - Avoid Fanduel Sportsbook

I'm located in Canada and opened my new FanDuel account on Monday, February 6th and made one deposit using the Interac method. The deposit was successful and I placed a four-team parlay wager with the deposit amount, which concluded with the final leg of the parlay on Tuesday evening. The parlay came in a winner. That was the only transaction I made in my new account.
On Tuesday afternoon, I attempted to log into my account and discovered it was "locked".
I contacted support via live chat and was informed that the Accounts department was reviewing my account because there was some unusual activity. It would, they told me, take 24-48 to review my account and if any documents were required, the Accounts team would contact me by email.
The time frame passed and as of today Sunday, more than five days later, my account is still locked with my winnings in the account, totalling $8500+.
I've spoken to a number of live chat agents at FanDuel since Tuesday and receive the same response each and every time: That the Accounts team is reviewing my account because of some unusual activity and they will contact me shortly by email. Still no contact from the Accounts team.
    (1) How long can it take to review one's account and (2) how can they maintain that there has been unusual activity when I only made one deposit and one wager todate?
I should have detected two separate red flags with the Fanduel sportsbook before making my one and only deposit, which were:
    (1) Unlike other sportsbooks like BetMGM, 5Dimes and Bet365 (among others) that provide a phone number to contact support or management, Fanduel does not. The only two methods of contacting this sportsbook are by live chat and by email.
    (2) When I initially opened my Fanduel account and made my deposit, there was $25 placed in my casino account. An agent informed me that it was there because I was a new customer. I played a few rounds of blackjack and increased the $25 to $47.50. I then attempted to withdraw $47 and it was declined. Once again, I contacted support and was told I had to make a deposit before I could withdraw the funds from the casino.
Sportsnet.ca here in Canada advertises and continues to advertise for Fanduel on a regular basis on television during NHL games and NFL games. If this is a corrupt and bogus sportsbook, why are they advertising for them?
I've pretty much concluded that my account will not be re-opened at this stage and that both my deposit and winnings have been taken away from me. There's not a lot I can do or anyone I can contact regarding my situation.
What I am hoping to do is make to make my bad experience with this sportsbook public so that the next person does not get taken in the same fashion.
Bottom line: Do not register an account with FanDuel sportsbook.

Hi oaky. I seen your post and this really hit home for me so I joined sbr just to respond to you. This happened to me to. I bet a large amount at Fanduel and won. They suspended my account also. They gave me the run around and I didnt know what to do. After a month I went to my states gaming board and the bbb and made a complaint. After 10 days my states gaming board got my money released. After that I shut my account. Dont give up go to the canadian gaming board and get your money they have to pay you because its legal not illegal gambling. They want you to give up so they can steal your money. They had to pay me and they will have to pay you.

Also dont wait go to the canadian gaming board first thing Monday morning and file a complaint. Because they will stall you for weeks. They will tell the gaming board they suspect money laundering or some made up charge. Remember its legal sports betting regulated by your country so they have to pay you.

Hi Northwest Side G and thank you so much for providing me with that information. I'm sorry to hear that you had the same similar or identical experience with FanDuel sportsbook. I will try and get in touch with the gaming board in my province of Canada and see what or if they can do anything to help.
    Your input is greatly appreciated.

I think you are giving up too easily if this is the full story.

If they have not emailed you, my best guess is that it has not been human reviewed at all yet. And that also means it is very likely an automatic flag. These are very often wrong and are cleared as soon as a human checks it.

If this goes on too long you can submit a complaint to https://www.agco.ca/ but they will require you to try quite hard to solve this direct with Fanduel before doing anything, so no use rushing to do that right now.

If you have been using their chat agents to ask about this, I'd suggest trying to email sportsbook@fanduel.com instead, as you will get a 2nd level support agent who also has time to properly check the account before replying.

Mike is right. When I spoke to the guy from the gaming board he told me he had a ton of complaints against them. I actually had to get in a line so he could get to my case because they had so many complaints. Also Oaky you did the right thing by not waiting they would just stall you with generic emails. I hope you get your money soon. Best of luck.

Upon contacting the gaming board today, I was instructed to send a formal complaint email to Fanduel and request a formal complaint number. They have 5 days to respond and if, after 5 days, they don't respond, send them a second formal complaint by email. It could, I was informed, take up to 90 days for them to resolve the issue. If, after sending the second formal complaint email, I don't receive a response from Fanduel, contact the gaming board again. Also if the issue is not resolved after 90 days, contact the gaming board again.
The gaming board added that 80% of cases are of this nature and that he has had numerous complaints related to Fanduel. He concluded by saying issues are usually resolved well before the 90 day period.
Thanks once again for your help, comments and advice. It is greatly appreciated.

Even if the gaming board guy says to ask for a dispute reference now, I strongly suggest trying again by email before doing so.

Once you do that it goes to a differrent department in Fanduel and nothing will definitely happen until the DR process plays out in full. Which will be weeks/months for sure.

Try emailing and requesting your message be escalated to a manager first is the smart strategy. You might get is solved in a much shorter time frame, and nothing really lost even if it does not work. Just request the dispute reference next week instead of today.

Not following the process or being pushy/angry will usually do the opposite of what you might expect. It will make it take the maximum time instead of speeding things up.

I was told by my states gaming board 1 week was plenty of time for them to review it. I waited a month which was my mistake. You did the right thing. Also make a complaint to the bbb. It will put pressure on them to settle with you. Also I was told by live chat if you email them you will get put to the back of the line. Its a waste of time. Im glad I live in America my states gaming board got this taken care of in 10 days not months.

Within an hour of sending my "formal complaint" to Fanduel today, the Accounts team reached out to me by email and requested some documents. Upon forwarding them immediately, my Fanduel account has been reactivated.

I want to thank everyone for their input and advice regarding my issue.

Sounds crummy, but I don't think this is very common and I doubt they are looking to steal legit gamblers money. I know multiple people who have done very well at fan duel with no such problems.

I've been to hell and back with Fanduel. They are absolute bullshit if even the slightest thing goes wrong.

Worse than Wsex, Betcamelot, Betislands combined. OK, not quite as bad. But ghosted me for 10 days with a randomly locked account. Eventually, there should be a class action against these arrogant penetrates.

Yes, the only two things that seemed to (remotely) have an impact were to complain to Fanduel support on twitter, and to actually request a complaint ID for purposes of filing a complaint with the PA board of gaming. I have no doubt they would have frozen my funds for months if I had not done these things. Literally 10 emails and voicemails were ignored.

This is 100% true, and I don't say that lightly. Other than BetCamelot 20 years ago (ran away with customer funds), I have never experienced blatant stalling/ghosting like I have at Fanduel. It's very obvious to me they pay employees bonuses for every extra day an account remains locked. I have more than enough evidence for this claim.

Just to let you know, my buddy used to play FF contests there, and he caught them cheating in a contest he really won for a large amount. Later on, they did get caught cheating via their own employees playing in the games. But it didn't end there, what they really did was change the players in/out of the lineups with shadow teams or whatever you want to call them. They 100% cheat people in those contests. Then, somehow, they now have a Sportsbook and Casino? Ha! No phone number to call? Ha. Anyway, my buddy is no moron so when he told me he knew they were cheating I 100% trusted him.

I still have money in my account but its a small amount, and I only have that to take advantage of the bonus now and again.

cats/kittens are nasty creatures, they might play nice for a while, but stop feeding them and they will hiss at you and scratch you to death

    agree about the donuts though
