Unibet Blocked access to my account with large ammount of funds. What to do?

    Hello,
First of all let me tell you I am new to this forum and I've just recently discovered this site while surfing around the internet and I am glad I did because I am having a problem with Unibet; I am sorry if this is not the proper place but it seemed like so.

I am a client there for over a year, i started playing for fun on live betting only (and still did until a couple of days) and I only spend what I can afford to loose but being a rookie I lost a lot of money with Unibet (thousands) on the first few months, then, around August or so, my luck and my choices improved and I started recovering my losses with risky bets (high stakes, low odds); not the best strategy and it could go either way but it turned out fine and I got good and competent/lucky at it to the point where I started to withdraw a few hundreds every now and then. Unibet never asked me for documents and always paid promptly through bank transfer. My good fortune continued and between some severe losses I still managed to improve my account balance to cover my early losses and maybe even have some profit if I withdrew everything (which I never did or tried).

A couple of weeks ago i noticed that Unibet was severely limiting my bets; while before I could win hundreds with a single bet now i could only bet enough to win a few dozens if so but still I kept improving my balance... Then, yesterday, I tried to withdraw a relatively small ammount and got a message saying it wasn't permitted; when i logged out and tried to login again i got a message saying that my access was denied!

I called immediately for the international number and they told me they didn't know what was happening but that i would receive an email in an hour or so with instructions; i got an email saying that "your account has been blocked and is to remain blocked at the request of our security department. We will be creating a manual withdrawal of your funds after a successful security check." and asking for several copys of documents (ID, Prood of address, bank statement, copy of CC used to deposit). I sent everything they asked a few hours later and asked them to please tell me if anything else or different was needed and how long until this process was done. This afternoon I received a reply saying that I should wait until 8 weeks (!) before hearing from them... Besides, after reading their email again (my mother language is not English), i believe that when they say that my account is to remain blocked they are meaning forever. I am wrong in my interpretation?

I really don't know what to do, 8 weeks is a huge amount of time (I was thinking about a couple of days at the most...) for something like this I think but, like I said, I am relatively new to betting and I don't know how sportsbook behave. I read several frightening things during the course of this day but I want to try and remain calm and hope for the best because I have a lot of money there and did not expect this to happen. I can not access my account now but I do have print screens from last week with my balance and I know for sure how much is there. I can not formally complain because they are not saying they are not giving me the money that I earned but asking me to wait 8 weeks seems excessive to me. What would you advise me to do now? Keep contacting them? Call them? Email them? Please advise. Thank's in advance.

No idea about this book, so I can't say whether you'll get paid or not. But your best advice is continue to contact them. Don't be obnoxious but shoot an email a couple times a week, and call 'em a few times a week.
All it takes is not pissing them off and getting one good employee to solve all this for you.

It is difficult to be certain even reading it as an English speaker. But it does sound like they do not intend to re-open your account whatever the outcome of the investigation, from the wording.

It is common practice for Unibet to suspend accounts and request ID. As long as you havent been mulltiple accounting or using fake IDs I am sure they will pay once they have verified your documents.

I have a lot of expirences with EU bookies and have had sevaral issues with many of them. What is happening to you is nothing strange. I belive you never did a security check with Unibet? After you make your first withdraw, a security check is in the air. For some people it comes after the first withdrawel, but for some it may take some time. Sooner or later it will happen. During the time, they always keep the account closed so you can not change your personal info.

This process usualy takes a couple of days. It seems odd that they say up to 8 weeks but they might have cut down on some people, or they simple want to be on the safe side and say up to. If everything is allright, your account will be re-opened and you will have acces to your funds. But keep in mind that Unibet and several other EU books are very fast to limit winning players. However it is very rare for them to close there accounts. Once again. As long as everything is OK, you should not have any proplems with them. Hope it helps.

Thank you to everyone who replied so far, I feel a little bit more calm after reading your comments but I guess you understand my concerns considering the rating and issues we can find with Unibet here at SBR.
I never had more than one account on Unibet and my ID is perfectly legit. I guess they allowed me to make several withdraws without ever asking for a security check because I lost so much money in the beginning making the worst mistakes anyone can make when betting that i guess they kept believing that I would screw up again sooner or later and didn't pose any "threat" but for the past few months I found myself steadily increasing my balance even though i did screw up here and there. By what you all say to me is probably very early on to be preoccupied but as the days will start to go by I am still not sure what the best course of action is if they don't contact me. I am not planning on being aggressive or obnoxious in any case but if I ask to much for updates I might come of as impatient maybe.

PS: I was trying to give points to everyone who replied (don't know what is the use of them but they must be positive) but for some reason I could only do it 2 times and I couldn't give points to tto827and Optional; i hope the intention counts

Trying to figure out where your accent is from.
Pretty sure it's not Asian, and doesn't appear to be Spanish either.

Would like to say Italian, but again, not sure it's Latin based.

Sketchy but decent use of prepositions, and almost flowery use of adjectives. Thinking it could be German / Slovic.

My final answer is you are a white Rastifarian, born and raised early on in eastern Russia / Moscow.
Then studied in London, while visiting India often.

Hope justice prevails with your Unibet situation.

I thought that my country could be seen in my profile or something but I guess not. I didn't know you could tell an accent from writing but you were close on your first attempt with the Latin guess, I just don't know why it didn't appeared Spanish since I am so close
Thank you for your best wishes.

Unibet always does this. They love only the kids from the playground, who never bet with more than 5 EUR. Unibet hates the pro bettors. If you start to win some thousand EUR, first the betting limits will be dropped, then soon the account will be closed and they will never re-open again, and you have to wait 4-6 weeks, but finally they pay to your bank account.

Didnt know that they close your account. Thought they only limited you, but that is almost the same when they limit you to 1-2 euros. But still, closing your account is harsh.

Update: Last comment from Teddy_KGB seems to be confirmed...
I emailed them yesterday because I forgot to hide the *** code on the back of the copy of my CC and also because, for tax purposes, i need to know the transactions made in my account and I can't access that; they replied later in the afternoon saying that I won't have access to that information because my account has been permanently blocked (!) but they can send me this information for personal use or for Taxes if I need it... I mean... can it be that they are blocking my account forever because in the beginning i lost a lot of money and then my luck/strategy started to shift and i started to earn money even when I was already limited like in the past few weeks? Is that suspicious or something? Yes, for the past 5 months or so i did not have to deposit one single time (unlike the previous 6 or 7 months) and I only made withdraws but this can't be reason to block me, not a fair one at least. I know I can't complain too much because of the "rules" and how a lot of bookers seem to act according to some experiences I read here but this is not fair. People play because they want to win, and if they loose they try to win it back , people never play to loose money. Don't know what to do now, I just hope they pay me my balance without much hassle... i am actually very unease with this situation again. To be clear, the verification process is still underway but they are telling me right from the start that my account is to remain blocked permanently...

Well princecharles, i can only speak for myself but I've never even played more than a few EUR (which I totally lost) on two other betting sites before joining Unibet more than a year ago where I lost a lot of money until about 5/6 months ago; my job allows me to to sit with a computer in front of me and I spent most of my nights playing and trying to get my money back which I did playing dozens of low odds at high stakes each day in sports I knew well about and got to know better the previous months like tennis, football (soccer) and basketball. I don't even consider the chance of being "flagged" as anything besides a stupid guy who lost a lot of money and was a "great customer" because of that but then got lucky with his bets and stopped being so. I did my math yesterday, checked my bank account for deposits and withdraws and even though I can't access some data from my CC before 6 months ago I estimate that, considering the balance remaining in my account, I would now break even with a slight profit somewhere between 1000/2000 EUR. Yesterday I replied to their email asking if I wanted a document for purposes of taxes with my transactions saying it wasn't necessary because I had access to that through my bank statements, manifested surprise and concern for seeing my account blocked permanently and asked for them to please tell me if they needed anything else from me in order to complete the security check successfully, today i got a reply thanking me for my understanding and cooperation and suggesting me to wait for their contact...

PS: I don't know about your story Logan777 but it would be great if you could share it

You said you were having the same problem as me logan777; what is your confidence based on? I didn't do anything wrong and they blocked me instantly after a whithdraw (far from being the first) when I was already limited and when asking me to send the documents for the security verification they were already telling me that my account was blocked permanently. I was only blocked because I was winning, that's for sure. OK, most sportsbook do that, I know that now but today I sent another email asking for any news regarding why my account was blocked and the identity verifications and the only answer I got was asking me to wait, that I must accept their final decision on this subject and referring me to their rules and the point 2.3 that authorizes them to close a player's account and providing no explanation whatsoever! What is keeping them from keeping my money and giving no explanation as well? And then all this time waiting? I'm am worried of course...

I dont know the problem why they are taking so long to check the documents, maybe they are trying to find something. For the money they dont have the rights to take your money away, unless you were breaking the rules. You gonna have a frustrating period until you get your money, and you could even wait for your money for more than a month so be ready . I have been already waiting for 17 days, and got the same promises from unibet, but its just the way they are. Personally I am 100% sure that I didnt break any rules for this reason I have no worries concidering the money. You will have to adjust to unibet account verification, because having heard so much stories about it you will have to wait very long.

I understand, I wish I could be as confident as you but what good does it do to know you haven't done anything illegal and that you are entitled to you money if they don't have to explain or prove anything at all according to their rules?! Right here on SBR you can also find some scary stories leading them to the "C" rating Unibet now holds and I do have a very considerable amount of money there right now. I hope everything turns out OK; you have waited a couple of days longer than I yet you remain calm so I hope you are right. Keep me posted if anything new happens; i promise to do the same.

Why? How did you come by that information? You mean "confiscated" because something illegal happened or are you saying they just stole people's money?

One account was my, and you have many reports in the Portuguese forums. I have unibet account since 3-4 years, already verified, with several payout. In 12th December I received a promotion from them in my email, deposit 200 euros and they close my account without saying anything, without doing a single bet. In the first email, them ask me again the ID, in the second email they told me to wait one week for verification. After this, 2, 3, 4,5 weeks....to complete the verification process...

That seems to much like a scam; i hope they are not doing that, they just can't, it would be a scandal! People with more experience told in previous posts that they take a long time to pay but eventually they do pay. I hope they are right because considering the money I have there I am more than willing to move mountains to get it...

Hello Shari91, thank you for your reply; I did not fill out a proper complain on SBR because I didn't want to believe it would come to that and wanted to wait the (amazingly long) period they told me to check my documents because so many people in here were telling me this situation was normal and would resolve itself naturally but I did send an Email to SBR asking for advice on the situation and got a reply asking for more information from Matt (Total amount of deposits lifetime to Unibet, Total amount of paid withdrawals from Unibet, Remaining unpaid balance left in account); I replied last weekend and I am waiting for reply but I can forward everything to you as well.

Well, I got a message from unibet support and it said that without a month the documents wont be checked, so you will have to wait more than a month. Because when the account remains blocked forever they take much longer. And you cant do anything, because they dont say they will keep your money so they keep calm because they know that nothing can be done, so you only have to wait and everything they say its just to be patient lol?

...Same here... It's ridiculous... they have people's money, block accounts with no explanation whatsoever or the slightest effort to do so then ask you to wait until 8 weeks and at the very least one month to do what we all know takes hours or even minutes under normal situations: check your identity! All of this while any inquires come back saying that they don't have to explain anything, pointing to their rules and point 2.3, thanking for our patience and cooperation and asking to wait until they contact us... And, as you point out, they don't say they won't give your money so you don't really know what to do or how to behave and the only thing you can do is keep waiting and praying they don't rip you off.... this is happening to far to many people or so it seems...

To tell you the truth I dont know, maybe it was about the amount so they checked my id long. Finally I got my money back, 1400 euro was delivered to my account few hours later after they confirmed they have made withdrawal.
