Pointsbet-NJ Sportsbook with Different Betting Format
Has anyone tried this site yet? Seems very interesting.

For example- You like the Under 229 in the Knicks game today. You stake $10 on the Under and the game finishes at 215. That's 14 points under so you would win $140 on the $10 stake. If the game finishes at 243 you would lose $140. It's definitely a little confusing but seems interesting.

They offer $500 risk free first "Pointsbet" and $500 risk free regular bet. I'll definitely give it a shot.

    Be careful.

It's called "spread betting" and it has shocked many a new comer how easily they can lose way more than expected.

It has not really taken off anywhere else in the world that I know of. And does not fall under gambling laws in the UK and some other places. It's treated more like currency trading.

You can set a stop loss too but that's pretty silly because my understanding is lets say you set a stop loss on a $10 stake at $50 then as soon as the opponent gets a 5 point above the spread lead it will take your $50 and that's it. I'd never consider that.

I'm mostly interested in seeing if anyone else has had any success or had any input on this type of betting format. I'll play with house money if they are going to give me two $500 risk free bets though.

That's the decision everyone comes up against, and many stuff it up.

AFAIK the people that make money spread betting are super nits who bet based on worst case scenario. So instead of setting a stop loss of $50 on your $10 bet, you would be looking at your estimate of worst case scenario, and adjusting bet size to maybe $2 to account for it.

If your a grinder/trader type it may suit, but "gamblers" generally don't stick with it.

Does pointsbet also take regular bets? I thought I saw something on Twitter about them offering discounted juice.

Yes they have reduced juice and supposedly vig free on NFL under $200 bets for rest of season. That's what I heard at least. They also have a promo where if you bet on hockey and your team gets up by 2 goals they pay the bet out. They are definitely looking to take over the market. At the very least it should make others in the NJ market try to compete on the juice.

They probably will corner the market on $200 bettors, which I guess is what they want. I would love to find something in the legalization rollout that I thought was going to turn out to be to the advantage of advantage players, but I haven't seen it yet.

They use whole points so every wager has a possible middle where the bookie collects all.
                  Team A -7
                  Team B +6

                  Book hits the middle.
