Agree with the above posters - who in their right mind is going to buy this book? The only incentive I can think of is to pick up a huge client base, but how many of those are going to keep playing there even if their balances are honoured? The brand name is worth less than sod all now and the damage is irreversible. Gambling Commission should hang its head in shame; it can't be blamed for the stiffing of punters, but the fact that it had to be prompted to do something by punters via Twitter says it all. Absolute sham of an organisation and would like to see someone with some clout let rip at it.

Well said. The GC will be feeling more and more heat over this. If they released information as requested by FOI, they would then be perceived as transparent in the process of uncovering the truth. And perhaps this would help restore some of the faith and trust that has been deservedly lost. However, they have chosen the other pathway - the one in which they suggest it's in the best interests of the punters to remain hush hush, to ensure Canbet gets sold, so everyone can live happily ever after. Isn't it nice to be told the GC knows what's best for you all, and that it's in the "Public Interest" to ensure such correspondence remains undisclosed?

Even if Canbet is sold, there is no guarantee customers will be paid one pound, one dollar or one euro of what they're owed. And anyway, I'd suggest most customers would have had that sick feeling in their stomach for months now, knowing that there was a high chance of never being paid. So I ask the Gambling Commission - if you really do care about the people affected, you will release all correspondence you've had with the auditor and Canbet directors both during, and after the time you had assured customers they would receive all payments. At least that way, we can see which, if any, illegal practices have taken place and by whom. And that would provide customers with at least some solace in knowing that justice will be administered to those responsible for any potential illegal behaviour.

So the Commission are telling everyone that they became aware of Canbet's problems in November last year? Hmmm. I beg to differ after reading some of the posts on this thread it would appear that they had received several complaints pre-dating November.

Well, I should have done that right away but did not.

I complained to Canbet about the limits and that I would not be able to complete the rollover under those circumstances and they replied and blamed it on software problems and that I was betting too close to the start of the games which is BS.

I put a few small bets down which lost, but after a week or so I saw that my limits were not being increased at all.

The bonus T&C clearly stated that the bonus would expire and would be removed along with any 'bonus winnings' if the rollover was not completed within 60 days, so I waited for the bonus to expire, since I don't count a bonus as mine until the rollover is met, and I was not 'up' much at that point and did not want to be since I was being prevented from completing rollover.

When the 60 days was up, the bonus remained in my account. I then started e-mailing Canbet and requesting that they remove the expired bonus.

They refused and said the that once the bonus is awarded the rollover must be met. They encouraged me to please continue making bets. This directly contradicts their T&C which state that you only have 60 days after the bonus is rewarded to meet the rollover or it'll be removed.

I e-mailed them back and asked them to then confirm that the bonus would NOT be classed as expired and be removed from my account.

They did not respond.

Obviously they wanted me to continue betting on the expired bonus and they would remove the bonus plus any winnings at the last minute.

I filed compaints with SBR.

By the time I filed a complaint with the GC about unfair bonus practices, they informed me that Canbet was no longer taking deposits, etc.

A few days later the Canbet site was shut down. My bonus was (finally!) revoked along with a small amount of winnings.

What good would a complaint with IBAS do now? They resolve disputes between the sportbook and the player.
