Bovada Racebook just robbed me for $394
Let me start by saying I love Bovada. Been playing there for 3 years, and they have been terrific in payouts, wager settling, and their Racebook has always been aces. Have hit some big tickets there, and never a problem. This unfortunately, is just mind -boggling.

I had .90 cent pick 4 tickets at Emerald downs for races 4-7 (July 26). I had 1,3,4,7 with 2,4,5 with 1,4,6 with 2,6. The winning pick 4 was 4-5-4-7. Nobody had the pick 4, so they paid 3 out of 4 consolations in the amount of $109.50 for .50 cent tickets. I had two .90 cent tickets that had 3 out of 4 (4-5-4-2 and 4-5-4-6). So according to their rules, and what they have paid me MANY times in the past on 2 out 3 consolations for pick 3's, they should pay me $394.20. It seemed like routine. But they said no payouts should be paid, and when I finally talked to the manager, he said there are no results showing the 2 or the 6 being paid in the last leg. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Something as simple and routine as a 3 out of 4 consolation, and even though according to their rules they pay track consolations, they won't pay me. This guy said he needs to see something from official results that pay 2 , 6 or all in the last leg. I tried to explain thats what 3 out of 4 means, and that they dont write out all the exact 3 out of 4 combinations because there are too many and it would take up too much space. It was like talking to a child.

I have also posted this in the horse racing section, and I would really like an SBR person to help me file an official complaint.

    Hi indio,

If they paid you the same wager many times in the past, did you provide a specific example to the manager so that he could verify your history? That may have helped the substance.

The problem of all BOOKS taking racing its they dont know about it. Thinks simple like 3 of 4 a elemetary student can understand what it is.

I actually did provide a recent example from a pick 3 from Canturbury Downs on July 21st. That was fresh in my mind because I hit the pick with with a 50-1 shot in the first leg (8-1-4), and nobody hit the pick 3 at the track which paid out 2 out of 3 . So Bovada paid me 6 consolations on a ticket that was 2,3,8,10 with 1,2,3 with 4. When I gave him this example, you won't believe what he said.

He stated that the results for that race at TVG showed 8/all/4 pays, all/1/4 pays, and 8/1/all pays. I was stunned. I tried to explain to him that "PAYS 3 OUT OF 4" means the exact same thing, and that they don't typically list every consolation specifically on pick 4's because there are so many permutations with 4 legs. He dug in, and said unless he sees a results from a reputable place like TVG or Equibase that specifically pays all, 2 or 6 in the last leg on my ticket in question, he will not pay.

The surprising thing is, their racebook has been practically flawless for the nearly 3 years I've used it, and then I find out that the manager (who claims he is at the top of his department), is incompetent.

              **********************************UPDATE **************************************** ******************

James, the racebook day manager called me, said he looked into it , and that I should be paid, and they credited my account with $394.20 that I was owed. The problem was, I was dealing with an overnight manager who told me he was the top of the food chain, but in reality, was new to his position and didn't understand how consolation payouts work.

I have been paid in full, with a little free bonus bet for my trouble.

So what can be learned from this, is the overnight shift (Emerald Downs ended after midnight EST) is not too sharp, and simply talk to the day manager, who was very sharp and polite, and made it right.

but in the meantime there is a thread here telling people they robbed you. everyone who opens the forum sees the title and assumes the player got screwed and didnt get the $ paid to them.

Damn shame people can't just work with the book and try to fix a situation prior to running to the forums and creating threads like this.

Boater, this guy went to livechat and was told no you don't get anything. Bovada's own fault for having an incompetent rep telling people his decision had weight.

I would have, but you have to understand, the night manager essentially told me he was the top guy in the racebook, and that it was his final decision. Now, add to the fact that I had the 1/9 shot lose on the last leg of a pick 4 that would have paid me $800 (and a first timer that would have paid 5k), I was already a bit steamed. Then he told me I'm not entitled to the payout , after I had him look at Equibase and DRF charts at the same time I was on the phone with him. When I asked to speak to his supervisor, he essentially told me he was Caesar, and it was his call. So,only after that did I make this thread, and as you can see by the time, I was good and steamed.

On a positive note, after James called me today and told me it was corrected and I was paid, I decided to buy some racing forms and I hit the opening pick 4 at Canterbury for $1200.
