To answer your last question, the backer would have very little blame in that scenario. Given what happened here, that's an unlikely scenario to say the least.
I am not sure how much of the story you have followed, but we know some things now. BI was hemorrhaging money. They were getting killed by sharp action, which was little surprise given the half point promo, the bonuses and the refusal to cut limits/promo access. The costs of paying out same day P2Ps and bribing SBR were no doubt prohibitive. It's possible that the backer made up all losses before leaving, was willing to close shop and pay all balances, etc. Not likley but possible. And we know the owner was arrested in October. It just doesn't seem likely.
If the backer wants to come here and explain what happened, I'm all for it. Until then I will just assume the ************ owes me money.
