#37Got most stuff I want considering my income. Right now I am looking into a tablet/ipad.
I'd just buy an iPad if I didn't hate apple, and think the android products are actually superior. Problem is, the iPad is insanely nice.
Some really nice products coming up shortly. Been researching it for a bit over 3 weeks now.Comment -

#39hi drinker, only the best is discussed around here.
anyway, here are the next 2 best options after the Elite:
for Plasma:
for LED:
Each of those sets are available in 65" models as well. Just don't buy any Edge-Lit LED TV, that technology is horrible and a gimmick. Only true backlit LED sets with local dimming are good.
If I'm buying for a theater or living room (dark viewing room), I'd get the Panasonic Plasma. Plasma is best for sports viewing - no motion issues - and for blu ray viewing. Plasma provides the best natural picture of any current technology, period.
If the TV is going into a bright room that gets a lot of sun and light exposure, I'd get the Sony LED to be safe. Plasmas have a tendency to get washed out in lots of direct light.Comment -

#41The Pioneer Elite is now the top end Panasonic Viera's. Seriously. Towards the end, the elites were using Panasonic screens with a special "part" that I need not get into.
Buy a top of the line Viera, and realize this is the new Pioneer elite.
And, FWIW - Plasma is the only way to go if you watch sports.Comment -

You can still find some used Kuro Elites online from reputable videophile sellers, they're in very high demand though with price appreciation.Comment -

I am a big Sony guy. Swear by Sony Vaio. Am typing on one now. Used a Toshiba for the first 3 years of undergrad, and rolled with a Sony Vaio through the last year of undergrand and 3 more years of "graduate school".
Awesome hardware, and PC's are just awesome machines - if you know what you are doing.
If you are into it simply looking pretty, and don't care about money or performance - than yeah, the Mac is for you.Comment -

#45Have you seen the new Sharp Elite in a Magnolia Theater room at Best Buy? I watched half of Dark Knight on the 70" version and was completely blown away.

FWIW, I have 3 top end Panasonic viera's (50/52/55) and it really cannot get better. I am into sports and gaming, 95% of everything I use the TV's for are sports/games, 2% 720p DTV shows/series, 3% blu-ray movies - which are mindblowing. I really hope there is a day where a DTV can bring real high def into our living rooms on most channels.Comment -

#48guys, i loved my vaio desktop from 2000 to 2004 or so, but abandoned ship thereafter and have been on thinkpads since.
only vaio laptop i'd consider is the Z but it's just as overpriced as macs are these days. the rest of the vaio laptop line is watered down with way too many product lines and unimaginative designs. personally expect way more from sony, their current CEO is a joke that doesn't care about quality anymore, rather higher-volume low cost units.
vizio is the only potential alternative i see right now in the pc world for top build quality, top specs, and design at a super competitive price - the reviews have been amazing. been wanting a change from thinkpad since the lenovo sale, but have been hanging on.Comment -

#49No, and as a result - I feel technologically retarded. I am waiting for the note to drop before I decide. The S3 would be in my hand right now if I wasn't so interested in the amazing specs the note has.

ASUS is a brand I can get behind. They've been around for a while, are now getting into the hardware - and can put out some beefed up products. My sony whoredom is what it is. Trust these SOB's - although I gotta customize it.Comment -

#53Yeah. I just never got around to rooting my EVO 4G. Biggest reason to do it is the free hotspot. Which I really have no use for at the moment. I use to link up to my Palm Treo and Palm Centro using PDAnet, but back then I was flying between Nevada and Florida.
The new Note going to be available at Sprint? Got a link to the Note's specs?
The notes main specs for me:
Quad-Core
New Android OS - Jellybean (ie not ice cream sandwich - not a fan of ICS)
SAMOLED display - these screens are fukking amazing, and i'd willingly put them up against anything apple is rolling out.
Essentially a tablet that can make phone calls.
Sad this is this - outside of the 5.5 inch screen (which I could do without) the international version of the Galaxy 3 is essentially the above, including quadcore and obviously can update the OS.
Depending on how bad the size throws me off, I might pony up and try and get an international III, as long as it is GSM and transferable to the US.Comment -

#55yeah, asus has been on the up and up with the transformer prime and the google nexus 7 (asus hardware). like their story along with vizio's. competition is great, especially when it comes from companies without top brand recognition who release quality products. they won't be undervalued for long.Comment -

#57I am hearing T-mobile. I am currently on sprint, but would be happy to go to Tmobile - as they are phenomenal in PHX.

SAMOLED display - these screens are fukking amazing, and i'd willingly put them up against anything apple is rolling out.

I wouldn't mind having the Note2 myself, but I don't think T-Mobile is that great out here. Sprint hasn't given me problems for the last 11 years. Recently though, the 3G has been spotty, but I think that has to do with them upgrading towers and sh!t.Comment -
