What is a good weight for a normal guy to buy a baseball bat to just F around with?

Im not a baseball player but I bought a bat to fuk around with at dicks sporting goods the other day, it is a wood Louisville Slugger I paid 25 bucks for and is 34 ounces, its a very heavy bat and everyone bitched about it and my dad could barely get it out of the infield (hes in his mid 60s)

Whats a good weight for general baseball fuckin around, if I buy an aluminum bat I dont want to get the wrong weight as they are more expensive and I dont play but once in a blue moon

22 ounce senior bat seems real light I was thinkin like 25 or 26

Bat speed is everything for distance, there is almost no sense in stretching your muscles with a bat that's too heavy to generate great speed

get an adult baseball bat, they are -3. Im not sure about the senior league bats but they still maybe -5 or -7.5. dont remember. But just a cheap single wall baseball bat at either 33 inches 30 ounces or 32 inches 29 oz should be good to fukk around with.
If they still make -5 id grab a 32' 27

Yes it's true. It's due to the heavier weight of the wood bat. There could be a difference in the aerodynamics of a wood bat with a finish applied and a metal/composite bat but I have never heard of it being a contributing factor to slower bat speed.

If you want a decent, cheap, metal or composite bat that will be good for everyone then go with Mikeyanks advice and purchase an adult bat (either 31" 28oz or 32" 29oz). You can find these from $15-$400. Adult bats that are BBCOR approved (which is the mandate for high school use) have a minus 3 differential, or -3, which is the difference between the length of the bat in inches and its weight in ounces. Wood bats will typically have a plus differential of 3 where the weight is more than the length.

If you want to have fun and hit the snot out of a ball then pick up a senior league bat which will typically have a large diameter barrel and a minus 5 differential. So a 31" bat will weigh 26 ounces. For even more of a difference some youth bats I have played with have a minus 8 differential and you can find them up to 32 inches in length giving you a 32" 24 oz bat which feels light as a feather. There are minus 8 bats in the 33" variety but they are usually sold out. However, it must be noted that youth league bats have a smaller diameter barrel. The largest differential I have seen online or in store is -11.5 which i have only seen on bats 31 inches and smaller.

In highshool I used 32 inch-29 oz

Play competitive slowpitch softball now and use 33 inch- 27 ounce

Just to fukk around with....I'd say try for a 33 inch and like 27-28 ounces. But not sure how they make em all now

Thanks for the help guys I can tell we got some ball players and prolly some softball league players on here and that's extremely generous offer mikey but I'll just pickup a cheapo here and save the shipping costs and trouble, we really dont play hardly at all but I bought a bucket of 2 dozen balls and that wood bat the other day and we went out and ****** around but the bat was too heavy at 34 ounces and that made it less fun

If you just playing around get a 30" 28oz
Would be a good size for about everyone.
Everyone thinks A long bat is better and
a heavier bat will make ball go farther.
Its just the opposite.
Like other people said You need something
light to get it around to make contact.

A 33 in if you are 6ft or more with a -4 or -5 drop which means 29 or 28 oz. If under 6ft use a 32in with -4 drop or 28oz.

Aluminum lasts forever especially the cheaper ones as they aren't as thin walled ,wood feels better and cheaper, composites are expensive and will crack.
