MAGIC JACK phone company must be out of their minds?
I am without home phone service for over 7 days now. Why? They say the engineers are looking at it. And, you cannot reach these fools live on any direct phone #, you must use their "chat-line," which nearly drives you completely mad when you attempt to exchange words and explanations. They are like robotics, trained to only use 4 or 5 phrases. "they are checking your problem now." "We apologize for any inconvenience." "We understand and appreciate your patience." What patience? I've been with these people for 3 + years!
My phone service ended abruptly last Monday evening, without any notice or warning. Supposedly my year expiration date was up, but no warning, no nothing. Not even an email.

Does anyone else use their service? The bad: They have good good service with MJ. Great way to save any calls in and out.
Simple way to dial using your computer, also, you can use it on vacation any place where WiFi is available. The other good! Dirt cheap, overall. Figure about 45 bucks a year for the first 2 years and then down to 20 bucks a year thereafter.
Anyone have the REAL information as to what is going on?

*Is there any other service out there as good as MJ? If it's quite a bit more expensive I would not want it. I desperately need another service, though! I have grown to hate these frickin' people a MJ!

Flasmo, you missed the point entirely! I stated I had good luck with these people overall for 3 years + and liked the service. The customer service is what sucks. Do you work for MJ?

Well that's what he's saying, for $20 a year I don't think they give a flying fukk about CS.

No, it's much more than that! Something is wrong and they will not be honest and admit it. Surely, we have some MJ customers on SBR?
They claim an "engineer" problem. For over a week? I know they have millions of customers all over the world.

Okay Flash, I see your point, clearer. But, to stay in business when you have millions of customers, with this pitiful cs, is asking for the END of business. Funny thing though, I'm not seeing this problem anywhere else on the net with MJ customers?

I would have bet 1000 to 1 we had some MJ customers on board?
Anyway...STILL no service and it's growing on two weeks! Thought you non-users needed to know.

Abe, in this line of work (or technical fields in general), problems that only affect a small number of people (or worse yet, only 1 person) are much more difficult to track down and fix. If the problem affected everyone, it would more than likely be obvious and fixed quickly.

Think of it this way. If there are 15 people who lost service, at $20 a year that's only $300. After 4 hours of trying to find the solution, they have already spent more money on paying their engineers than they will likely earn long term from these customers.

My money is on they aren't bothering to try to fix it anymore.

Sadly, I have to admit, you may be right? However, I have literally drove them nuttier than they already are, with a ton of live-chat complaints. Funny thing, these chat people never are the same individuals, and almost all have American names. Plus, they give me the same answers over and over, like they have never heard me complain before. Maybe they'll drive me crazy before I do them?

I know lots of people down here south of the border who rely on MJ, I've always used Skype myself. I haven't heard any complaints. After reading your thread I called a couple of friend from my Skype line to their MJ lines... No problems. Looks like your stuck trying to drive them crazy. I'd keep in mind it's personal to them and for $20 a year they probably could care less about you.

The Majoc Jack Owner/founder/creator lives 10 minutes down the road from me. When I see him I'll ask him why he doesn't want abehonest to have a phone

For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than to Google it for themselves.

JbarT, you now have an new online admirer. Thanks for your effort. See where TONY below has the same identical problem as I.
They also have a phone number listed here, that's also a first.
Where you from JBART, So. Texas? Texas is my favorite state. Only heroes come from Texas.

WOW that is, I am with all of you customers/users; Its has been 12 days with no phones, and it was a simple renewal of the phones (4) lines; customer service conveys that the account is under review, don't explain why is under review, contact them every day and still no resolution to this renewal of the phones. I used them for (1) year and they worked ok, but now that I am renewing them. started all the problems with magicjack. Their customer service is less to say poor, its way below poor. Use chat and direct contac same results nothing. Very dissapointed and frustated. I will not recommend them at all, due to their customer service or support non available.

Please, make an effort to see this jerk! No service and it's past THREE WEEKS! I have talked to their inept chat-line 32 times, and have nothing to show for it. I'm almost "mad as hell and am not going to take it anymore!"

Oh man, sorry to hear that . You should probably file a complaint with the FCC and Better Business Bureau.

I've used them for over three years and never had a problem. I call to the US and Canada for free, I have a U.S. phone number near my parents, and the sound is good. What's better than that? My guess is your case is an isolated one.

Who knows? I had to cancel an upgrade they offer a few months ago because it wasn't advertised as is. Seems that has something to do with their confused state?
I have learned to live without them now, thanks to their incompetence or intentional snub?

I know a lot of people are dropping their home phone service and use their cell phones for everything.

I have Verizon Fios bundle. Internet, Phone, TV. I have a Tracfone for my cell which works out to $10
a month. You could go that route.

I couldn't use a cell for everything. I like to have a little insurance in case of an emergency. For instance, I sort of live in a hurricane zone, so if one comes ripping ish up I'll still have my landline to make calls.

How much is your fios bundle?

im another 3+ year user. only problems i have are sometimes when i start up my system it won't recognize it. a quick unplug and plug back in and im back up and running.

debating trying out the MJ plus. no computer needed.

all in all for the price, i say it well worth it. fukk spending a minimum of $17/month for a land line

Sucks you're having problems and I don't mean to hijack your thread but...

We keep a land line so we don't have to give out our cell phone numbers to everybody. If my cell phone rings it's someone I probably want to talk to.

I've always figured $20 a year was a scam. Can I switch my landline number over to majic jack?

How much is your fios bundle?
It was $119 for two years. It has since gone up to $150 and they cut channels. Thinking of going back to Comcast
which has their bundle at $99, or use that to negotiate a lower price from Fios.

Well, I'm back! Over 100 days and Magic Jack has still not resigned me. Their "beautiful" chat-line has stated for almost 40 times, "your case is under review and we will email you when we have it resolved."
What a bunch of lying bstrds! They are pssd about something. No excuse to take your phone service--I was a solid customer-- and not even explain "where we fkd up!"

My only recourse: I just wrote them up on the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.
i should have done this two months ago!

What a bunch of retards! And their service--if you can get it--is darn good.

Wow, that sucks. But I must say I paid for two years and now I'm in the second year of 5-year plan. I haven't had one problem at all and even if I did, I'd have saved a ton of money using them. But I would definitely be pissed if I were you.

I had mine given to me from someone in the US but I saw the Magic Jack being sold here for $75 for a year.

I use the Ooma Telo, paid $150 for the box and then after that you pay $3-4 a month for taxes. Has worked great. Love the box and the touch controls. Voice quality is great and it only goes down when the internet goes down.

People that pay a big phone bill every month are just getting ripped off. If only they knew

Well, with MJ, you could take your laptop with you on trips and use wifi to still make phone calls--temporarily using a different #. All free of course.
I did not like that MJ Plus. It will not keep all your previous phone calls you had stored on the old one. Plus, the convenience of having your laptop working anytime you want to make a call, which is almost 85% of the time anyway.

Mostly, I needed to keep those 4 to 6 month records of used phone numbers.

I assume the Obi device will not do the road thing like MJ?
