I went to a sports heavy school here in Ottawa named St. Peter CHS. If you could play, this is where you went; whether it was basketball, football, hockey, rugby, baseball or whatever. St. Pete's was the powerhouse of Ottawa and we took down city titles every year in almost every sport.
No matter what though, the football team always reigned supreme. We were the heart of the schools athletic program, always garnering more funding and recognition for the school than any of the other teams.
Girls wanted us, guys wanted to be us. We were the best team around... a legacy of sorts. So in my senior year, when we won our third straight city football championship, we weren't satisfied. We had long decided before the season even started that our goal was to win a state championship. And we did.
