great guy. retired too young because ball didn't pay back then,
but actually was an excellent actor.

if you want to check out a forgotten but awesome film with him in it, see.. Dark of the Sun (1968)

our fathers said he was the best ever...

Guy was a thoroughbred. Nitschke shadowed Brown in 1965 title game:

Hornung scored the 2nd half TD. And Paul looked SPENT after the TD.

Back when players had pride. Different era.

    Before my time.

From video's I have seen, and the accounts I have read, and from what I have been told by the old timers that did see him play all pretty much say Brown was the greatest ever.

I don't the details about the assault charges, so I will not comment.

Wish I got a chance to see him play live... a few say he was one step ahead of Barry Sanders. In my opinion no one was ever better than Barry. RIP

My father was a Browns season ticket holder for many, many years. He would tell me how incredible Brown was as an athlete, not just in football. He lettered in Football, Lacrosse, Baseball, Basketball and Track. He's considered one of the best Lacrosse players ever. They had to change the rules of Lacrosse and holding the stick because of his dominance. He averaged 38 ppg in basketball which was a Long Island record that was eventually broken by Red Sox's Carl Yastrzemski.

He left the game in his prime like Barry Sanders but had a great acting career and was very active in civil rights. Brown could go into gang territories and have bloods and crips sit at the same table and honor truces. He is the Godfather of Cleveland. May he rest in peace.

Jim Brown, Football Great and Civil Rights Champion, Dies at 87

After a Hall of Fame career in the N.F.L., he pursued social activism and Hollywood stardom, but his image was stained by accusations of abuse toward women.

Brown was voted football’s greatest player of the 20th century by a six-member panel of experts assembled by The Associated Press in 1999. A panel of 85 experts selected by NFL Films in 2010 placed him No. 2 all time behind the wide receiver Jerry Rice of the San Francisco 49ers.
