    Fuk guys.

We need synchronized clocks to measure the one way speed of light.

But we need to know the one speed of light in order to syncrhonize our clocks.

    Fuk.

Nasher we seem to think we know the speed of light but the truth is we've never actually measured it one way.

    Because we can't.

Instead, we turn on the light, start a clock, then the light hits a mirror and comes back to us. We measure the round trip and divide by 2.

But we are making a big, untested assumption that the light travels the same speed both ways.

What if it travels twice the known speed of light away from us, but makes the trip back instantaneaously?

We have know way of knowing that what I just wrote isn't true as the math works out the same in both cases.

    Fuk.

What the fuk are we gonna do?

    Fuk.

If two objects travel toward each other at the speed of light what is their collision velocity?

That's a trick question, you can't have a collision because the objects have no mass at the speed of light.
(I learned this from a science professor who was big on Sir Isaac Newton, his three laws of motion and all that)

For argument sake, suppose both objects did have mass at the speed of light both objects (if they indeed have mass) colliding both would be driven backwards at the speed of the light

I think that's correct, come on Opti it's Monday morning, you're making me think on a Monday morning, it hurts to think on a Monday morning.

    Tell me why I don't like Monday's.
(Love the song, love the video, can't stomach Bob Geldof though)
I want to shoot the whole day down.

I can't believe Geldof and the Rats just released a new album, he must be 1000 years old now.
It's actually a very good album, NME has a two hour weekly podcast, they played a few cuts from it.
Love Boomtown Rats, can't stomach Geldof though.

Here's a slick question for you that aforementioned science prof threw at us for two points of extra credit.
If you have a 120 gallon vacuum and you're pumping air into it at a rate of 3.4 gallons per minute, how long would it take to pump in half the vacuum with air?

    259.41 minutes?

I didn't know the answer to my question btw, was just wondering.

Trick question, you can't half a vacuum half full of air.

Hey, you want to hear something tasty, and how can you not love this quirky video.
This is one of my favorite pop songs ever, this band "Love Affair" had their moments in the UK in the 60's.
Steve Ellis, the great vocalist Steve Ellis pays homage to "Everlasting Love" which has been covered at least 1000 times from 1000 different bands, including a great pop band from Australia back in the day, "Town Criers"

Take three minutes, tell me this doesn't brighten up your day.

Did you know that song is about a girl that shot up her school? I’m the same with Geldof, little to odd for me. But, I do like ‘Up All Night’ though.

Yep, San Diego teenage girl went bat shit crazy.
"The silicon chip inside her head gets switched to overload"

Her brain wiring went screwy, and she decided to play sniper.

Geldof did a nice job at Live Aid with his band too on that song.
I respect Geldof, I just don't like him.
