#3well you got Hendrix and Van Halen tied for first, then maybe Page and/or Clapton. Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King, Chuck Berry, Townsend, Beck and Richards. Angus Young (big fan). Don't forget Robert Johnson and Johnny Winter. Knopfler is badass for sure, so top 15-20 is fair.Comment -

Jimi once said "Terry is the only other guitarist I'd pay money to see"
I was a huge Chicago fan, not so much in the later years when that blowhard Peter Cetera took over.
I was a trombonist is grade school up until I was 20. My guy was James Pankow.
Their horn section was air tight.Comment -

Some guitar critics say the greatest live solo ever.
Heard it 1000 times and will listen to it 1000 times more.
Kath on the axe was magic, and he performed his magic without effort.
It was second nature to him.Comment -

I actually saw the Brothers In Arms tour when I was in HS.
The other guitarist (Jack Sunni) is amazing as well.
John Illsley on bass, that trio was as good as it gets.
This Wembley live piece is incredible with all the hooks from the opening intro to the amazing Knopfler riffs at the 4:30 mark, and the guitar work from 5:00 on.

#31I place all that on that blowhard Peter Cetera.
His songs were sappy, and it always sounded like he was whining.
During Kath's era that band was pointed towards rock greatness, after Kath's passing they turned into nothing but a top 40 AM radio band.
Highly successful, for sure, but disappointing.Comment -
