#3exactly, nothing is going to work on us anyways so have at it. $10/mo is great especially with movies like Dunkirk, that should be seen in theaters.
AMC movie theaters is freaking out right now and trying to find legal recourse to stop them.Comment -

#7Why stop them? They pay amc full ticket price for movie right? So AMC may actually benefit if some people come more often. Those without the pass won't come less because they don't have the pass but people with the pass will come more. Unless amc hoped to put a similar strategy out there I fail to see the downside for them.Comment -

that kind of desperation shows they are clearly worried about this at $10/mo sub fee.Comment -

#12I don't get it unless they are worried about a bunch of broke ass people coming in and not buying any popcorn and stuff. Pretty sure theaters only make money first couple of weeks of releases on concessions - tickets all go back to producers so maybe that's it? Otherwise I don't get it. Seems like a definite win winComment -

lol I'm like that but it doesn't seem to the norm. Whenever I go it seems a lot of people are buying stuff. I just can't pay nearly $10 for popcorn, not going to happen. But, even with consumers like me it shouldn't matter. Other consumers buy stuff and the more they are there the more they will buy.
Yeah there is some kind of formula out there but I don't think it's known. But, distributors get most of the money the first 2 weeks and theater usually can take out cost of operation and keep a small profit. After the two weeks it changes.
It would seem with this deal people would be more likey to go to the movies after they have already been out 2 weeks. The rate at which people see a movie more than once in a theater will go up surely.
They said they only need a million subscribers for this to be profitable with all the data they plan to collect. It would seem they will hit a million easily with all the hype going around right now.
website finally up. 9.95/moComment -

#20Wow, 1 more reason to fade movie stocks. People are fleeing the theaters in droves. I know, I much rather watch a movie on my 170" big screen projector where I have unlimited drinks, food, etc.Comment -

the best projector out there to even match what you see in a theater is $10k especially for movies like Valerian or upcoming Avatar's.
$3k for a good upscaling projector which is plenty good... for now
anything under is nothing special especially if you're sitting too close. Even the 3k model is wasted if you sit too close.
This is going to send a lot of people to movie theaters. Consumers never had a problem going to the theater, for millennials it is a cost issue. They will pay $200+ for a concert ticket because of the experience but even paying just $10+ for 1 movie plus food isn't enough of an "experience."
$10/mo is going to catch a lot of millennials.Comment -

I almost got this 3.3k projector last year, I have room for 150" screen but I'd rather have UHD tv than upscaling projector. Even tho a big screen would be awesome.Comment -
