Only six states allow the winner to even remain anonymous. The winner will have to find a honest lawyer, accountant, financial planner, bank, investment brokerage, etc. with so much cash in a lump sum or paid out annually long-term.Everybody & their Grandma will be looking to skim off a few million since you have so much & can't possibly keep your eye on every $!

once your identity is known there will be at least 5000 people thinking about kidnapping/stealing/killing you and/or your family for money and a few of them will probably be family

I'd have a larger security detail than the president. My trip to the package store would look like a SWAT team raid.

most people that play are over 55. everyone takes the cash. if you are younger take the annuity but there's no guarantee you will ever get it all. so you worry from year to year that country stays solvent. if you take the cash someone will steal some of it to be sure. it's a headache either way. maybe buy a sports franchise and probably lose money but at least you can have some power and enjoyment doing it.

                          I would go public.

                          Start selling myself.

First order of business would be PR, so I'd donate $100k to the Donald Trump campaign

Get in good with some old, rich white men and then opportunity would abound

I would be my own business

Go on an extended vacation. Let everyone forget about you. Don't stay in 1 spot too long. Summers in mediterranean. Winters in Alps and Caribbean. Money goes farther abroad as cost of living is cheaper.

Well I've dealt with lawyers before and I dont trust them any further than I can throw them as it is...throw in a billion dollars to try to rob you out of and money worshipping financial planners or whatever u deal with and u are going to be a target for robbery at all times....throw in every close or distant friend or relative you ever might have met will be calling you up "congratulating" you on your win and of course reminding u of that time they met u when u were 4 at some reunion and how hard times have been for them etc etc

Your best bet would be to keep that ticket somewhere safe for a couple months, act like nothing happened. Quit your job some random day 5 months from now when the buzz has died down a bit and claim the prize. You will have people and the press crawling up your ass if you don't

I know Maryland is one of the states you can remain hidden by not releasing your name. Move to a state that does not collect state sales tax like Florida, to save some cash too. California and Pa don't collect state tax on lottery tickets either.

I bet it won't be hit until it's over $2 billion, with so many numbers, it's really tough!

Absolutely agree and this is why I posted this thread a week ago....keep in mind it was just Oct 7th that these new rules kicked in barely 3 months later we're already at a 1.3-1.5 bil jackpot....this rooster_eater is tough to hit...you will also see alot less of these multiple winning tickets imo unless quick pick is rigged bc the last 2 drawings have had huge #s of tickets sold and no winners at all....maybe quick pick is quadruple selecting repeat tickets and keeping certain #s out of the pool so that its not guaranteed to hit bc if quick pick wanted to it could easily have all combinations put in play and guarantee SOMEONE would win....but clearly it aint designed that way its designed to repeat some #s and leave other totally unpicked

I almost think being the sole winner of that jackpot (if you could not remain anonymous) would ruin your life.

You'd live in constant paranoia of someone trying to kidnap you or steal what you have. You'd have to walk around with security all the time. You'd have a million beggars with their hands out and if you said no to any of them you'd get labeled as a jerk.

Even if you could buy literally anything you wanted, the hassles that come with that lifestyle would not allow you to enjoy it like you normally would.

Quit your job some random day 5 months from now when the buzz has died down a bit and claim the prize. You will have people and the press crawling up your ass if you don't
time stamp on ticket and camera's would identify you as purchaser more than likely. better to try to hit smaller jackpot to fly under the radar.

Life changing events usually happens on flipside for me. Don't follow college football like I do nfl, mlb, nba but leaning Clemson gun to head

What if you hold on to the ticket for a while, move to one of those states where you can stay anonymous, then claim the ticket, would that work?

Or do you still have to show your face because you purchased the ticket in a state where you cannot stay

The minimum information they require under public disclosure laws in California are the winner's full name, the name and location of the retailer who sold the winning ticket, the date the prize was won, and the amount of winnings, including gross and net installment payments. If your name is fairly common, this may be less of a problem, and you do have the ability to assign your payments to a trust or entity so that these will become anonymous.

You don't have to participate in any lottery publicity, so anything beyond the above information (like photos, ceremonies or announcements) can be declined when you claim your prize.

It would be an amazing experience to give money to your friends and family...even very extended family. If you have a good heart people are going to have a hard time killing you, if you are flaunting money and acting above everyone then yes, I can see why people want to take you off the pedastool.

You'd have to walk around with security all the time. You'd have a million beggars with their hands out and if you said no to any of them you'd get labeled as a jerk.
