Does Selling Business to Business still work?

So i have had a telemarketer cold calling job selling on the phone for the last 7 years and now i got a new sales job but they want me to go business to business just randomly showing up without an appointment or any info whatsoever

all the businesses pretty much have No Soliciting on the door


now i ask this question bc i havent done this kind of sale in a very long time...

Should i just totally ignore the No soliciting signs and go in or what?

does anyone else do this?

i told my boss about the signs and he's like don't worry about the sign , go in and sale anyway but i am a bit apprehensive

Brother owns a garage and is tired of phone solicitors. Probably wouldn't want people walking in either.
B to B direct mail with an offer they can't refuse is probably a better sell. Take the initiative, go to Staples
get some direct mailers or door hangers (tax write off) made with your name on them and rake in the dough.

Knocking on doors selling shit no one needs "B2B" is different than a true B2B sales job. I've sold B2B for 15 years but the customers I call on need what I sell. They all have "no solicitors" posted on the door and I've never been asked to leave. If everyone in the phone book is a "prospect" then no, it's probably not a viable gig.

dude if you can cold call, you can definitely go door to door.


Right now I am a roofing / construction sales and although I work most jobs from leads or referrals, if there is down time I will go doors to doors with great success. You just have to be able to look presentable and let the customer or consumer in your case know your an expert

If you can sell then go sell something with high returns like luxury car fleet sales or high end computer solutions.

Good salesmen are the best paid people in a lot of companies. Because most people just can't hack it. if you can hack 7 years cold calling and are not scared off by door to door, then you can likely hack any selling job. Might as well aim for the best one, they are all tough.
