definition of crossfit according to urban dictionary:

A cult/organization of failed athletes who are coached by trainers that have purchased online certifications claiming to be world class olympic lifters.

Facilities offering 'functional' training by incorporating epileptic pull up techniques, high intensity olympic lifts and other circus acts posing as strength development methodologies.

Workouts are comprised of a heap of confusing exercises at high repetition with no result driven motivation.

If this method of training does not make you puke while performing it will make you puke by observing.

cf is a gold mine, they are popping up everywhere in southern CA. There was a local guy who was trying to raise money to open these years ago. I never thought it would take off like it did but he now owns 3 of them and is making big bucks.

Crossfit is a bit like religion, mostly good but it's the extremist and wackos that give it a bad name.

I did Crossfit for a while and liked it. My only complaint is it's expensive.

That's funny Kraken one on my best friends got severe platar fasciatis from CF total disaster. CF reminds me of the training in karate kid 3 when the bad guy is making Danielson beat his own body up!

Glassman let it get out of hand...lost his way and is all about the $$ now. It used to be a great culture and a great system, for any age or ability level to get into. But the past 4 years or so EVERY box has just been focused on the games and not the group in there training.

And the post about them popping up everywhere is another example....always been 'garage gyms' but they took the model and slapped the $3000+ annual license on it for CF and have let the standards slip. The coaches certification post is wrong though, you don;t just take the test online like 99% of gym personal trainers do elsewhere you do have to study for the exam which is fairly straight forward and then be on site for the camp to demonstrate all the WODS before getting the level 1 coach, then go up from there.

Yea I agree, its like any scene that sticks around to grow, assholes come in to taint it for personal gains. I remember doing CF before it was 'in' and what it used to be. Got introduced to it in the Army in '06 and it was great for that purpose plus could be applied in the bare bones facilities on deployments without all the fancy gym machines...it took off big a few years later and thats when all the boxes were opening in pretty much anytown USA it seems.

Its no secret most of the guys on the ESPN games are juicing...same as the guys at the local CF who swear they only to the program but then you'll catch them lifting traditionally on the sides...its worse than the running feud between CF and P90x...beach body vs fit body and all. You can tell who does what and who's throwing more than nuts and berries and meats in their tank

Yep any gym will have its shemen but majority of CF girls, not the ESPN elites but everyday ones you walk into the box and see....are college girls and the 24-30 moms staying fit. Definitely some good ones and better than the AnyTime Fitness and Golds types.
