36% of 18-31 year olds still live with their parents
A record 21.6 million millennials live at home with their parents. That's 36% of 18 to 31 year olds and a staggering 56% of 18-24 year olds still live at home with their parents.

In 2012, 36% of the nation’s young adults ages 18 to 31—the so-called Millennial generation—were living in their parents’ home, the highest share in at least four decades. The number of young adults doing so has risen by 3 million since the start of the start of the recession in 2007, an increase driven by a combination of economic, educational and cultural factors.

    40% of men
    32% of women
29% of those living at home are employed
    45% are unemployed
50% are out of the labor force - not even looking for a job
    43% went to college
    18% have a college degree

Welcome to the Obama Economy! You fcukers voted for it! Have fun playing that XBox in moms basement and looking at that internet porn. You can stay on dad's health insurance plan until you are 26! Is that what freedom looks like?

You can thank that bald Jew at the Federal Reserve that is printing trillions and trillions of dollars and you can thank your purple lipped Diversity President who plays more golf than Tiger Woods. You think he's cool, you think he gets you?

All of this printing money to keep property values up is Fckuing YOU. Now you are going to live at home, and have to pay 300 bucks per month for Husseincare and you will have to pay for Granny and Grandpa's Social security. How cute, our first black president that is enslaving America.

    New generation is screwed

They have no option but to live home

No way you can even have a family anymore because the days of good paying jobs are all gone

If you never get married you could be ok

Suckers will get married and ruin their lives

56% of 18-24 year olds still live at home so you and your circle of people would be consistent with the stats if most of your friends still live at home.

Thank your purple lipped diversity President. Thank Ben Bernanke. Thank all of the Democrats in CON Gress that voted for Obamacare when you and your friends have to pay 300 bucks per month for a BRONZE plan that covers mammograms and has a high deducible. Yes it is shit, yes you are being fcuked. Thank those baby boomers that want more more more and want you to pay for it. They retire from their cushy .gov jobs at 55 with a fcking PENSION HOW FCUKING NEAT IS THAT! Guess what, you and your friends will be paying for that Pension for 30 years while you suffer. And their social security, and their Husseincare. Congrats you are 25 and you are fcked.

People are staying in the workforce for too long. All the good jobs are taken by 65 year olds, leaving only the shitty jobs. cant pay rent working at burger king or walmart.

It's more so the fact that everything is so freaking exspensive now days and everyone average individual is struggling to make it with all their financials they are receiving. All the more experienced are keeping/getting the jobs and you cannot even make it off of retirement these days so it's forcing them to get jobs even at an older age. We are fcked and even at the job I'm at now I can barely make it off with things. It's real tough, and the fact I pay for peoples social security, unemployment, etc is bllsht!

My 44 year old co-worker lives with his mama. The saddest part is seeing that he's comfortable. The guy really has nothing to show for it.

Whoa ... Are young people really doing this poorly?

For the first time in quite some time, I believe I can get laid!

Hell, at least I live on my own. That apparently gives me an edge over 15-20 percent of guys between 18 and 31, assuming approximately half of the 36 percent are men.

                      So you're saying there's a chance ...

without question, nominee for post of the century.

owning a biz or having multiple streams of income through massive investments are the only ways to get ahead.

one step below that, a poor person never gave me a job.

it's time to move to Asia.

It was where are you going, what ya doing, etc etc... So I was lucky enough to play baseball in college and stay on campus... Now I have friends who live with the folks

I agree - with that kind of politics - america is going to shit!!! I have just moved to Canada from Crimea. And some of the local just shock me - I have to work in a donut shop for 2 years to immigrate- minimum salary, lots of stupidity at work, and i ask some of the local workers - have you guys thought of going to school, getting educated and working somewhere else - and it turned out that not too many people thought about that. It is not advertized like junk food - on every corner!! I think the thing with generation is not about Obama laws - it is about unhealthy people. USA has to convert to organic production only and quit all those sugar shit and introduce physical training at all institutions - the nation is obese - and obese people are inclined to sit in the basement and do nothing - cause it takes their body a lot of effort to get out and do smth else. Drug help it all. In Canada it is better - ways better. I think you in the States need to change lifestyle - and also I think rich owners don't need good nation - they need people that are only good for work and consuming of their goods, that is what it is. Healthy people aint gonna play exbox at their moms- they get a boner every day and want to spend time out. they get feelings of pleasure when they have a nice car, nice house, so they make it happen - it is not hard for them to get up and go - cause they are LIGHTER! And i mean like 170 lbs on average is what makes a person active!!! Look at skinny bitches - they are always on the move - you need a nation of those!!! like 100 years ago - then you will make it happen!!

They will tax and regulate you to death.

Not sure why anyone considers 56% of 18-24 year olds living at home a surprise. 18-22 is college years and a great percent of young Americans go to college. They legally still live at home. Over 24 or 25 I can see the data being interesting, or relevant . Any age younger that that it is not only reasonable it is quite normal to still live at home.

plus - why pay for rent - if most of young guys and women would rather save more for their downpayment living with parents from a financial perspective. That is all right. It is common all over the world

Americans used to be about freedom and independence. Now we are slowly being enslaved by our first biracial president.

The stats were brought up because we are at all-time multi generational highs.

All of the bail outs mean people get to stay in their houses that they can't afford. Prices stay high. That hurts renters and young non owners the most. Yet another way Obama is not for young people.
