I had a falling out with this stupid girl last month. I've sent her a couple of texts to see how she's doing. She said she called the police. I understand that unwanted texts can be interpreted as a form of harassment but am I breaking the law? Would really appreciate some feedback.

Depends where you live, but once she has told you to not contact her she can probably report you for harassment. Whether the police agree it's harassment after seeing the texts and hearing your side would be another matter though.

Depends on what you are texting her. If it is simply hey, just wanted to see how you were doing then probably not initially. However, if she had asks you on more than one occasion to leave her alone and you continue to try and contact her than eventually it could be perceived as harassment.
Now if your text is a pic of your junk dressed up as a face saying I miss you then you could have a whole different ballgame.
Either or, if you texted her and she threatened to call the police odds are she really doesnt want a whole lot to do with you and you should just as well move on.

If she tells/asks you not to contact her any more and you do - even if they're non threatening texts/emails overall - at least here in Australia you'll at least visit the cop shop if she reports you. If you've contacted her a few times after she's asked you not to any more, you can get in deep shit. Again though that's Australia. Maybe contact one of those free legal phone call places in your state but either way don't contact her any more. All the power is in the hands of the harassee at that point. I have PMs/MSN/emails/SBR chats/Skype, etc saved for 3 years. A lot of damage could be done to a lot of people if I were a vindictive cow... once a chick tells you to back off, run away. Truly.
