maybe if you duct tape metal or plastic to it.
just tape might be eaten away by the gas, just a guess tho

No to the duct tape. Best quick fix for something like that is a bar of soap, just rub it over the hole repeatedly until it's completely plugged with the soap.

pressure inside the tank will pop that shit out or the gas could react/dissolve that shit

I wouldn't do it. You have a very serious situation. Those things can't even be welded unless you take the whole thing out and then you may as well just buy a new one.

^^^this. Even I've performed this successfully.
Another tip: always tell the tow truck driver to slap it onto the platform ass-end first
if it's that kinda wrecker. Which is what caused the f'k'n gas leak.

Gas tanks aren't pressurized and gas is non-reactive with soap. Trust me on this one; I grew up a poor redneck child in California. A bar of Ivory soap patched many a piece of shit dirt bike gas tank half full of gas, allowing me to ride it down to empty before patching "properly" with JB Weld.

Can you tell if your tank is metal or plastic? If it's metal and a small pinhole develops for no apparent reason, it's quite possibly rust over a larger area than the hole and even a patch with JB weld will only be temporary. Can you actually see the hole, or is it leaking from under a strap?

You need to drop the tank if you can't see the actual hole or holes. I wish car makers didn't make it so hard to do. Good luck with it.

I also should add that gasoline vapors are a serious danger, and a leaking tank should not be taken lightly. Please don't delay getting it fixed if it keeps leaking. Even if you can't see liquid gasoline, if you can smell gas, it's still leaking.

It's the vapors that are explosive, and ignite very easily.
