Is it possible to get it sealed? I guess it probably depends on the state, but I'm in Iowa and if ya google "Iowa courts online" it takes you to a state run site where you can look up all records. Has shit from murders to speeding tickets there.

spend the money, doing it yourself you dont get the perks. But it depends on what it is. DUI get a lawyer, trespassing probably do it yourself. Assaults. burglaries, drugs, get a lawyer. If you have more than 3 get a lawyer.

Basically get a lawyer. Only thing is if it completely a clerical error and something that should have come off on its own. Like tickets. Even most driving offenses will come off eventually except for habitual offender stuff (which is generally a low level felony)and DUI, those are permanent unless you move to have them expunged.

Jimmy i'm from MA and I have a criminal record and I'm an attorney. Expungement/sealing records is a lark. When you get something sealed or expunged it still says SOMETHING was there. What good is that? Isn't an unknown pock mark as bad as the offense?

Own the offense and be prepared to explain it. That's what i did and now it's a great talking point. The lawyer that let me into the guild laughed when I explained what my black mark was about.

I completely disagree. An 18 year old having consentual sex with his 17 year old girlfriend should be labeled a sex offender? While a CRIMINAL record should disappear?

But thats why I always laugh when Nancy Grace puts up a map and it has about a zillion dots on it and she screams...'look at all the sex offenders in this area'. because just about any deviant behaviors is ocnsidered a sex offence, form soliciting, to having sex in a car or anywhere in public and getting caught, to a 18 year old guy or girl having sex with a girl 10 seconds younger than 18, I wouldnt doubt pissing in public is a registerable offense if a women was the complainant and she said she was traumatized.

most courts have online records now, with public access.. goto each courts site and enter your name in the search, and it will bring up the cases
