I should add that i "knew" guys that did make a cpl surprise visits to people that owed and made them give nice things they had as partial payment. Actually Picker, you must be a horrible law student pal. All contracts are legally enforceable regardless of intent unless persuasion or coercion is involved. You party A implied the intent to have Party B (Griz) loan you money on credit. Griz accepted and applied the credit on your favor.

The only points for consideration are does he have proof of the initial request, proof of the offer being accepted, and of course due notice that he informed you of the final status of the offer. In other words did he say yes, did place the bet with your knowledge, and did he inform you of the bet being finalized.

I could loan a crackhead $50k, get them to sign the contract, with full knowledge the money is for crack. The only consideration I have to pay is to what I'm offering in my terms is from a legal source and if the crackhead is currently high or on withdrawals enough to fall under the category of undue duress. If Griz had said oh let me take my winnings from sports betting & bet for you on your request. Then the contract is null/void.

NOT PAYING without penalty is what they stand to gain. I've seen two of my good friends do the dam near exact same thing to a bookie. They came up with this elaborate story, sprinkled in stories of detectives asking questions and it was all the book needed to bounce from the situation. They didn't have to pay the 4dimes they lost and didn't have to worry about it. I'm not saying that's what happened but I sat in a small dive bar for 4-5 hours a day with a dinosaur of a bookie and all he did was tell me about the business. We would sit there and shoot the shit and he put me up on game. Before he became my partner it was just me w around 10 players and he would literally tell me what these guys would do and say and without missing a beat they would do and say all of it. I learned how to manage players. If you dont manage them they will fukk themselves and then fukk you.

So, needless to say, Griz is seriously upset about all this. He asked me my thoughts, and I explained to him that his only course of action is to talk directly to the bookie. Explain the exact situation to him, and see if he will let him set up a payment plan. If the guy is any type of businessman, he will see that this is the best solution.

Haven't read past the first page...but do this. I worked for a local back in the day and worked some on the "settling up" end. I don't know what kind of person this book guy is, but talk to him directly and explain the situation. The guy I worked for would probably set up a plan and give him a break if he had a good enough relationship with him.
