Have to say that it was an interesting experience but its not for me, I prefer the strip
A bit too degen-ified for me. Lots of riff raff and undesirables of all kinds
Though I did like the Golden Nugget, and the water slide that goes thru the Shark Tank
Also I went into El Cortez to see if the single deck blackjack did exist, and it does, so for you card counters out there if you want a 3:2 single deck game here is the place to go. Though the whole place seemed like Bates Motel from Psycho, very dark and a gangster/mob like atmosphere. Something about the place seemed creepy. Especially going down into that area, thought I was going to get mugged or robbed
The overhead LCD screen covering the street was cool, but a bit loud. I thought how they turned off all the lights when they played the music on it that was pretty neat.
Looked for the infamous alley around Binion's Horseshoe to see if I could find a clown doing a guy dressed like Wayne Newton from behind, but didn't. I did however see lots of drag queens, prostitutes, and other weird costumes/characters all over. Watched a magician blow my mind when he put some kid's $20 dollar bill into a lemon. But why the heck would you take your kids here?
I did like how there were no porn slappers with the flourescent t-shirts every 5 feet though. Could walk up and down the street in peace.
I can see why people prefer Fremont Street, it did have the old school Vegas feel, but its a bit too much for a more relaxed and clean guy like me.
