Nice first post, but I don't need that many words to respond...

Its Fukkin stupid, 162 games is plenty enough to decide playoff teams...

They did it for the tv money, because last two weeks will have crazy ratings

Only thing that's worse is the college re alignments

Good: More emphasis on division titles

Bad: should stay at 4 teams, first two games at weaker team fields, divisional division series matchup

i think one game isn't fair.. the two wild card teams from each league should play in a best of 3 for the winner of the wild card..

I don't think this is an awful idea, if they are going to make it two wild cards.

It's a stupid idea. I was mentioning this to some SBR people in my fantasy draft on the chat board.....they added it just to get one more extra game in. Done solely for ratings purposes and gate revenue.

I like it. It will be exciting to watch those 2 games but i agree that 1 games doesnt prove anything hell the astros win a game every once in awhile. But I like the new format tho it will add excitement at the end of the season and it will be interesting to see who makes it

the whole wild card thing is kinda stupid anyway and let's face it was only put in place so the red sox and yankees could both make the playoffs...which of course only one of those teams is holding up their end of the bargain

it's ridiculous after 162 games that a team doesn't win a division and has a shot at the title and have won numerous times

if they're going to add a team they should do best of three just to deplete the winning team's pitching...fuk em...make em play a doubleheader and fly out the next day to play the deciding game at the other team's house later that night...they should be happy just to be in the dance.

Doesnt make sense. Tell me what you think. You have the Yankees who go 100-62. In second place you have the red sox at 99-63.
In another division you have the Angels in first place at 81-81. To me, the best 4/6 teams total should make the playoffs. The wild card helps the best teams get in.

I haven't heard anything about that.

They are changing the format of the divisional series this year (for this year only) for whatever reason.

Which ever team wins the one game wild card game gets to host the first two games of the divisional series.

In the last 5 years 21 out of the 30 teams in the majors have had a taste of the playoffs. Thats pretty good parity.

actually for this year they had to wedge a game into the existing schedule but next year wasn't set when they did it

they should have started next year earlier and gone with best of 3 wild card round games during what is typically the last weekend of the reg season

so fukkin easy
